This game is a less good Dead Space. That's a problem.
There are many reasons this game was rated low that have nothing to do with performance.
It's an extremely linear, action horror game with janky repetitive combat, generic story, and terrible copy and paste boss fights.
Played the game on maximum security and I died many many times… it was not easy .. but even with all the deaths I still finished the game in 7 hours. I had fun.. I don’t get why everyone just says it’s in dead spaces shadow.. I mean dead space was a knock off of resident evil and they said it themselves.. honestly this feels like a resident evil game to me.. I’m gonna be playing it some more when new game + comes out. I’d say it’s a solid 7.

Combat is trash it’s only “difficult” because the combat is straight up janky as hell it is absolutely abysmal especially when there are multiple enemies at the same time it is the worst experience I’ve ever had. I platinumed elden ring.. this games combat is what destroys it for me.

I work a lot . So 98% of time I play for story and experience. I don’t like difficult games for the fact it consumes time…I don’t have. I can play and beat difficult games when I got extended time. Bloodbourne was huge for me. I got 60% through Seikero before quitting due to the fact I was on vacation and when I got back to work 1 month passed and I forgot my rhythm. This was first review that mentioned difficulty after literally tons of watching. Thanks because $75 is a lot of money to spend on a game only getting 30% in.

It’s not the difficulty, combat is just not fun, it’s slow, clunky and fails to work properly quite often, that’s the problem.
This game is tough, I think people are being a little harsh though. In my opinion the close camera angle and the fact that fighting more than 2 enemies is clunky adds to the feeling of helplessness you're meant to be feeling; Jacob isn't a battle hardened space marine. I don't think it's a perfect game by any means, but it's been, at least for me, a super enjoyable story/cinematic experience with very well crafted environments and sound design. Don't let reviews stop you from playing a game that you think you'd like.
Sounds about right . The game loooks gorgeous , I really like the setting and the world they built but I hate the controls . Honestly I think this might be the worst gun controls I’ve ever used in any video game.. it can be very frustrating.. I’d still give the game a 6 or 7 overall.

I don’t mind hard games, but the combat wasn’t satisfying at all. I put in on easy and ran past a lot of enemies barely making it to the next checkpoint because I didn’t want to fight. Just not fluid at all. Switching guns, dodging, slow movement, all of it turned me off. I’ll never play this game again. Even with a dlc, there’s gonna be too many other new games overshadowing it anyway s

I remember a time where we didn’t need a review in order to play a video game…but the YouTuber just HAS to put it out there because it, it brings them views not saying you Alex….just from what I’ve seen..The Callisto Protocol is short yes, but it is enjoyable. People are scared to make up their minds so they go to their favorite YouTuber. Ridiculous.
ignor the people complaining about the game i am very fussy when it comes to games and i would recomend it whole heartedly. the dodge thing is what is putting people off but its easy to fix, lycan explains how and i strongly recomend doing it.
i will do my first run on easy and my second on ultra hard.

I don't know why they say the game is difficult. It's easy actually. Dodging and auto aim mechanic after successfully hitting a combo makes the game easier but the cons is, it makes the games less scarier. This is my opinion as my favorite games are survival horrors. It is fun to play though but lacks the punch when it comes to horror. My only complain technically is the black level raised on HDR. I'm playing it on PS5.

I think gameplay is good , my problems are with the story , miles behind dead space , and its very very light survival horror, its more like an action game.
It's a mediocre and shortlived but good looking scifi action game. No horror, no survival aspects, no real bosses, no puzzles, etc. It's not bad but it is WAY inferior to DS, even DS3.
Get the PS5 version. From what I played the game is hard, but I think the issue people are having is that they're trying to play this like Dead Space or Resident Evil. If you play like that you will get absolutely destroyed.

The complaints for pc is mainly stuttering and crashes but dont take into consideration upcoming updates and patches. For instance, Gotham knights had horrible day 1 technical issues (and still has some) and the 1st week it had 'mixed" reviews ON STEAM. Fast Forward 2 weeks later and 4 patch updates later and the gameplay is a lot smoother (especially for RTX Cards not sure for amd RX Cards im running a Ryzen 95900x w/ RTX 3080 12GB) and the reviews are now mostly "POSITIVE". So I ALWAYS take day 1 (first week reviews) with a grain of salt until a couple of updates . Its unfortunate but its the new norm that pc day 1 games have performance issues but fast forward a couple weeks (some games sooner other later) after update patches the review scores mostly always changes to Positive. You cant blame someone for giving a negative review when they are experiencing frame rate issues and crashes but on the same note the game isnt getting a true review based off "PURE" Gameplay due to bugs. Once they fix that then people give a review for what the game TRULY IS. I have pc and ps5 although the ps5 is my sons this has been my experience on pc for past 8 years I still always buy the pc version always over the console version and thats mainly because once the patches come in I can take advantage of higher framerates and mods which always makes my experience better. I dont fanboy for over plastic and besides I have both minus a xbox series x
Combat is not designed for multi enemies combat and there are combat spikes to pad the game and make you slow down.

Games pretty frigging great and runs pretty good on console. Seems like most issues are the pc port end. Also alot of the combat complaints can be deactivated in the menu. The weakest thing is the story but the combat and atmosphere is awesome so far. I'm only like 3 hours in.

Let me just say that I play every game on hard but this game is stupid hard, plus some of the mechanics don't work so well, so that is an added bonus lol. But the good news is that within the accessibility settings you can set up auto-aim and auto-dodge. Should help out….and although using auto-dodge might actually take away from the core gameplay, I don't feel bad about it because as I've said…it's difficult and the dodge doesn't always work well. Holding back us supposed to block but I keep getting hit. Later I realized you have to hold back right before getting hit…so it's more of a parry than a block
