Hi Jimmy! Nice review!
Hi, ther is now a version 2 out, any comments on that? Is it better or what is the difference?
Unidentified Focal Object
QUestion: maybe redo this review with the mk-ii version of this lens which btw is slightly larger but now has a focus ring
Got the second version recently, but I see this one's going for as little as £13 on Aliexpress. 🤔
Hi! Jus got this fun lens delivered today. Say, do you know what the markings (like a watch) on the front are meant for? Pure deco or dors this have a purpose?
Nice video and comments. I have had the BCL-15 for two years and used it a lot and like it. This morning at 5 Am my 7Artisans 18/6,3 mkII arrived.
13 images later, it's a keeper!
This just reminds me of, a smart phone lens.
Jimmy, nice video, I always like to view your reviews of gear. I just ordered this lens last night and it should arrive in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to trying it out on my GX85, EM10 and EPL1. May not try it on my G95 but who knows. Before ordering this, I planned and will still, DIY my own by cutting the lens out of a Fuji disposable film camera and adapting it to a body cap. Just a fun little project but at 30mm and F10, not sure it will be very useful. Also because Fuji recycles their disposable cameras, this one has been recycled at least one or more times because the plastic front element is scratched. May try this out on my A6000/A5100 as well. Thanks.
First photo samples start around 3:22
Olympus engineered the sliding door to protect the front element is brilliant, even though this 7artisans has better quality both in build and images but the naked front element is a deal breaker for me.
They need to release the mark ii with sliding door like Olympus BCL.
Thanks for the explanation and I am looking now for that very lens.
not sure why anyone would use lens caps anyways …especially as a street photographer. Do you ever put your camera in the bag or pocket? I dont…ever
what other cameras will it fit on?
Gotta see what this looks like close up on a face, think it could do a cool effect
Thank you for the review! Very informative!
I have it and I like it. I have a gut feeling I like the 15mm Olympus body cap lens more, but I am not fully certain if this is due to quality or just a different style. It's fun to use though.
They should have called it a Pro lens 😛 Since it should technically be weather proof. lol
A goofy use case for this lens is to combine it with a 10mm or 16mm extension tube, and convert it into a UFO-macro lens. Granted, it's optical quality would be inferior to a dedicated macro lens, and that f6.3 would be insufficient for certain macro scenario. But the lens is still capable of resolving a lot of details for casual use and that the combination is so thin that it won't even cast any shadow under the camera's built-in flash.
Any edits on the photos?
Every other review says it doesn't focus anywhere near 30cm. Some say 3- 4 meters.
Which pen model is that
I have this lens, the overall IQ is somewhat below average for landscape. At below 2 meters or so, the resolution is very poor, much worse than a mid-range smartphone. That makes it almost useless indoors. It is pretty hefty for a small lens, so it can double up as a paper weight.
Спасибо!
I opted for a Gizmon Lens for it's story and historical background
