Thanks for watching Introducing Puppy To Cat – Tips To Make It A Positive Experience. How are the introductions going with your cat and puppy?
Both me and my wife work during the day. She works on weekends sometimes. We have a split-level home. We're bringing a puppy home today but we don't want to completely isolate either the new puppy cause that seems a bit counter productive and not why we got a puppy, but we dont want to lock the cats up to a small room either.. im nervous and confused about this whole intro phase..
Ah yes. Just your pets. Got it/JOKE
Great tips. Our cat has outlasted 3 dogs, so he thought we were out of the dog business.
Now working to get him and the new 16 month old Aussie puppy.
Bringing puppy home today
Thank you for this
My cat batted my friends dog and almost put his eye out. I want to get a puppy but this makes me weary
I like how calm and sensible this advice is. Starting today!
My cat thinks my new pup (4 month old lab) is some kind of smelly furry Forrest creature ..atleast that’s how he views her 😂..things started off well but he can be devious and wanted the dog to chase him …fast forward a month in (I rescued a kitten too pray for me) and all the pup wants to do is chase. It doesn’t help that the kitten taunts my dog. She will purposely come downstairs when she knows the dog is in her crate and sit and stare at her lol ..my life has been a nightmare . A female puppy, a female kitten and a male cat . Any special tips for me? I’ll pay you! Pls help lol
Btw the puppy loves the litter box. Apparently she thinks the male cat poops skittles. The litter is delicious to her 🤦🏾♀️. Oh and if you know of a good therapist I’ll take offers on that too Lolol thanks for the helpful tips 🫶
Iv got a cat and an old dog ragdoll and border collie and are getting a new border collie at 8 weeks old she will be smaller than the cat .the cat and old dog are best frends since we got her and almost treated her like a baby they kiss every morning and sit together, but the cat only likes my wife my self and the dog the rest can go to he'll she fights any cat that steps foot on the property and the dog helps if she can but the cat becomes something very different and very nasty and once the new bc puppy is in the click she will be fine just getting her in the click
What happens if it's the opposite where I'm getting a kitten in a house with a dog already living there? Especially if the dog is deaf and blind?
We are planning on getting a puppy, but my boyfriend is super anxious about how my cat will react and worried that the (male 5 years old) cat will not be kind to the puppy. I keep telling him I'm doing my research and the main takeaway is to take it slow, but I loved your video! Gave me so many great ideas I hadn't thought of yet or just expanded on them.
I did have one question. I actually use the cat calming plug-in (it helped my boy cat from peeing where he wasn't supposed to), would that be fine to use for the puppy as well or would I have to get the specific dog calming one?
Getting a husky, shepherd mix puppy on Thursday. So the prey drive scared me. I have a cat I’m worried about. Hoping 7 weeks is young enough that things go well
He’s just 8 weeks old . Rough collie
Sending this to my mum to convince her to get a dog 😭
Can I do the spray for my cat and cat nip. Our vet said cat nip is good for my one cat cuz it helps her stay calm and relaxed and not be stressed for other issues I will be brining a new puppy home 13 days
That’s for the tips so much 😁👍🏼🤛
I have a old cat and we are adopting a black Labrador and our cat is a garden cat so she is some times outside she comes in to eat and sleep otherwise she has a house outside how do we make them meet
I’m bringing my puppy home tomorrow and I’m a bit worried as everything scares my cat although she’s a house cat 😩😊
What do you do if you made ALL the mistakes in the first week? Can you fix it?
Soooo helpful thank you
Good tips!
Thank you so much for these tips. I'm getting a puppy and I have a cat who is spoilt and is the king of the household so I am nervous about upsetting him but I have taken on board these tips and hopefully it will be a smooth transition…fingers crossed.
This was extremely useful. I have 3 cats and one of them is very very anxious. The tutorial was good and I followed every step 👍 👍
Unfortunately I can’t pick up my cat she hates this. Puppy arriving soon. Very nervous cat. I do have plug ins. Hopefully it will help.
My case is a bit different. So we took a baby puppy – about 2 months old, and we have a cat in the yard, which by the way currently have two kittens to feed. (Yeah, probably not the best time to get a puppy, but it was rescued from the street)
So the issue is the cat, it is very agressive toward the pup, we try to keep them away from each other, and of course the pup stays far away from the place where the kittens are hidden away, but as soon as the distance between the cat and the puppy closes, the cat jumps to attack the pup.
So it's like we have to put a leash on the cat so it does not jump on the puppy instead of the other way around like the usual case. But of course we can't do that… Since she would feel even more threatened and become even more agressive. So we keep them far away from each other and try to shorten the distance very slowly. I feel like there is some progress, but at moments it seems like there is no progress at all.
Could I maybe put something with the scent of the puppy near the kittens to the cat get used to it? Is this a good idea or a terrible one…
Thank you! I’m so glad I watched this. My girlfriend and I just moved in together. She has a dog and I have a cat. My cat is friendly and wants to get to know the dog but the dog gets too hyper and excited and starts trying to chase her around. I’ll start using these methods asap! Thank you so much
I'm getting a puppy soon and I am looking so forward to this.
My son brought home a tiny kitten when my Shiba Inu was 3. After just one hiss, they became friends. My dear Shiba just passed away at almost 12 from cancer. I'm devastated. I plan on a new Shiba puppy this fall. Will it be easier due to the fact my cat grew up with a dog? I am going to use all your tips and take it slowly.
thank you i watch this video , i have 4years old chow chow and got 2 mos persian cat in day 1 my puppy growl and aggitate to bark the cat in day 2 he watch the cat on the cage and now im watching this video to handle my cat and puppy
My cats are both used to dogs and they're basically fine with calm old dogs. The new puppy however wants to chase them and barks at them. I'm trying to get him to stop. Now my cats are getting very skittisch of him and spend their days upstairs. How can I make this unwanted behaviour stop?
Has anybody done this with a husky puppy? Please let me know any tips
Glad to have found this video 💙 luckily our 3 cats have done well with adult dogs but it's obviously different than a puppy, which my fiance and i are getting one this week that a costumer from his job needed to home since they didnt have the space; so we're just as excited as we are nervous so this video helped ease a lot of anxiety knowing we're already heading in a good direction (started scent swapping somewhat early, the current owners of pup gave us a blanket he loves and we gave him toys and a blanket our cats use so they have a slight familiar idea) and already getting gates to set up in the cats' safe rooms (we dont like litter and food in the same room but still quick access to get to either one) so the pup wont stress them out too much. This was a great video and im very glad to have learned more and know we're hopefully on the right track! 💙 also is there any specifics for a chihuahua/pomeranian mix when going about this since they arent big pups or any video/channel reccomended? Would love to know!
I have an 11 m old cat and i got an 8 week old puppy. Its all went wrong the cat is terrified whereas the dog is curious and happy around her. The cat is so stressed 😔
My foster puppy that my mother got a few days ago checked out my cat and got tackled, both were fine but now the puppy barks at my cat and snarls. It is scary bc I love both my cat and my new pup, now i have 2 pets that aren’t on good terms in a small house
I.just got a puppy today and we.have a cat Damm at got crazy when he saw the puppy I thought he was going to attack me
Okay the kitten and puppy love each other. But kitten loves to play rough. The puppy tries to be gentle because I tell him to and he's a good boy. But still. I'm afraid he'll get his eye scratched or that the puppy will accidentally hurt the kitten. What should I do?
