Motorola just unveiled the Edge 2025 for North American markets. It comes with a 6.7-inch “Super HD” pOLED display, with a 120 Hz refresh rate and “vibrant hues with Pantone Validated Color”. This is also promised to deliver “13% more resolution than the previous generation”, without its actual resolution being revealed.
The phone is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It sports a 50 MP main camera with omni-directional all-pixel autofocus using Sony’s Lytia LYT-700C sensor. There’s also a 50 MP ultrawide with built-in Macro Vision for 2.5cm close-ups and a 122-degree field-of-view, and a 10 MP telephoto camera too, with 3x optical zoom. AI couldn’t be missing, so there’s a new AI Key on the side. Long-pressing it will let you gain access to “an array of advanced, new Moto AI features”, like Next Move which recognizes what’s on your screen and offers helpful next steps in real time (this includes Playlist Studio, which curates a custom playlist based on the contents of your screen, and Image Studio, which combines generative AI and editing “to turn ideas into images, avatars, stickers, and wallpapers”).
There’s also Catch Me Up which summarizes missed notifications, Pay Attention which records, transcribes, and summarizes conversations or meetings, and Remember This which memorizes information from photos or notes when requested and can then later recall key details, context, and facts when prompted.
Keeping the lights on is a 5,200 mAh battery with support for 68W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. The phone runs Android 15. It has a MIL-STD-810H certification for ruggedness, as well as IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
It will be available in Pantone Deep Forest on June 5, universally unlocked, from Best Buy, Amazon, and Motorola for $549.99. It will also land at T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Total Wireless, Visible, Spectrum, and Xfinity Mobile “in the coming months”. In Canada, it will initially only be found at Motorola, with “subsequent availability at select carriers and national retailers”.
