But are they toxic to eat or is it simply the air they are breathing?
Seems a lot of the danger is when plants are indoors and therefore unusual to cats. I've had outdoor cats in a garden at my exes with lilies and most of the other flowers mentioned. No problem in 14 years because I guess they are just part of the garden and my cats have no curiosity over what is always there every year.
No way dude.. 😼
My neighbor cats will not stay out of my yard. Thank you
VIDEO IDEA can you please tell us what plants are SAFE for cats??
This is soooooooo helpful. Thanks, Jackson🐱❤🐱❤🐱
I'm ASTONISHED at how stupid you think cats are. They are SO adaptable & great survivors!! All my cats have been primarily outdoors because of family allergies, and in my Louisiana neighborhood, they are SURROUNDED by a carpet of toxic pine needles, ivy, azaleas, bulb plants in everyone's yard in the spring, etc. … NEVER ONCE have my dozen cat babies gotten sick off a plant. Even though — over the years — I've seen all of them chewing on random stuff in the yard. You say cats are smarter than dogs, but then you contradict yourself by thinking they can't figure out what's good for them in the natural world. If that were true, I submit that the feral cats would NOT HAVE an overpopulation problem. They would have died off from eating poison plants long ago.
I think at 3:32 the footage shown for poinsettia is actually begonia.
Lillies ARE toxic to dogs!
I'm still alive and active at 4 months thanks to your guiding light of content for my clueless clumsy dad who still calls me puppy until today (hisssssss) 😹 I'd probably think I'm really a dog if it weren't for you. You inspire us, and are part of our daily habit and permission to share your link it's the least we can do to say Muchos Gracias! — Hero Lee the Cat
Not gonna lie, hearing that he sells "energetic signatures" of plants to help cats makes me lose a little trust in Jackson
daisies, as in' Bellis Perennis' are listed everywhere particularly to be NOT toxic for cats and are in every 'safe plants for cats' list. The named pyrethrines are a part of Tanacetum cinerariifolium, a flower that looks quite similar to daisies, but is a completely different plant!
What plants will cats not chew???
Thank u good to know, I have 6 cats allindoor.❤😊
Quick question even though I'm not sure you'll see it. You've talked about pairing a "no" with a "yes" so I've gotten plants like cat grass and catnip plants. While they kind of like their cat grass, they still REALLY want to eat MY plants (All of which are fairly non-toxic) to the point of severe damage and requiring the plants to be fostered at my mom's for recovery. Any recommendations that are inexpensive? I'm going to try window shelves first, but in case they don't work I would love more suggestions.
Ok Im gonna bite, "energetic signature" sounds super unscientific, any actual citation?
6:53 Weed or what?
So, we know that spider plants are non-toxic for cats. I don't let them, but I see debates on whether or not it's acceptable to let them munch on them.
I've heard that rhododendrons are toxic to cats, but I didn't realize they could be fatal. When I was little, our cat used to eat both the flowers and leaves off the rhododendron bush in the front yard. I'm sure it gave him a stomachache, but he never got seriously ill from it. I wonder if they're only fatal in large amounts, or maybe some species are more toxic than others?
My roomate’s mom had the WHOLE house filled with plants, and wouldn't get rid of any of them even though one of the cats (the one with PICA) kept chewing on this purple and green plant and kept getting sick and throwing up all over the house. It got so bad at one point that I decided to move it up higher where he couldn’t get it, and then I got screamed at for touching her precious plants.
It all came to a head one day when she brought home a Christmas poinsettia plant and the cat chewed up a leaf and ended up needing to stay at the vet’s for three days straight, he was incredibly close to dying from it.
What link in the description? I’m not seeing a link for some unnamed plant…
My cat ate some fresh cannabis leaf one time and had nonnegative side effects.
My cats loves eating wheat grass.
The sad thing is that so many people use neurotoxin on our animals for flea control 😢 there are more natural safer ways. Vets telling people to spray pyrethrin all over their house to kill fleas, and once it's dry, it's "safe." They have no idea….
I know this is an old video but I have a ? involving lilies my mother just bought 3 Zephyranthes which I researched & learned was in the lily family. They are outside & we only have an in cat. But I was worried about the wind since these flowers are near a shed diagonal from the house. I'm afraid of the pollen blowing in & getting on the cat to the point I want my hubby to put our AC in so the air will be filters for the cat.
I'm also scared to sit outside & bring anything outside that could have the pollen on it. Am I being crazy or is the pollen on the wind getting into the house or on me a real issue.
Thank you for any future replies. I was unsure how to contact Jackson
Or fake plants that look real
The only time I let my cat out was to get some fresh air and he would eat a little grass here and there but all of a sudden now he’s not wanting to eat he’s depressed. He won’t let me try to give him food or whatever like I gotta nutritional gel from the vet and he’s trying to fight me on that one until I can get them back to the vet again.
The messed up thing about that website is it keeps crashing instantly like they don’t want me to see what’s on there so I’m just going to have my cats are gonna stay indoor permanently and I’m gonna have no plants. I’ll keep it simple as that.
My cat he seems sick he’s like looks really dizzy and tired in the eyes and he seems very weak and he’s not eating I think and I think he’s not drinking any water and he’s also really sensitive and he also seems a little depressed if you know what it is someone please tell me probably gonna try taking him to the vet tomorrow please pray for my cat 😢😭 an please let me know if if you know what it might be and we do have some white daisies, but I’m pretty sure I cut those with the mower, but I don’t know whenever he started acting like this and I had two cats that died last year. It seems like the same illness. My really sad please help me I also live In Missouri
The list is practically every plant except plastic ones. My 5 year old baby has enlarged kidneys. He never ate houseplants, but I have a Peace Lily (for years) and he may have ingested some of the pollen from the brief flower that comes out. I'm devastated that I caused his illness, and as of this writing I'm struggling.
Thank you so much for this video! I am thinking about getting a cat and I have read soooooooooooooooooo many videos it’s like the more know on cats the more complicated they seem 😂
I just found out Lily plants/tree was toxic to cats yesterday
I lost more than 8 cats because I have this killer tree in my backyard my 😺s used to go Play on the backyard fine and came back sick 🤢 end up dying I'm going to destroy that ugly toxic plant ☘️ thing right now
Rest on peace my lovely cats I missed you all 💞 only have 2 cats left 😭
Is the hyacinth flower toxic if I just pluck the leaves not the bulbs
Honestly it feels like its all plants now… People still to orchids … Keep the rest out of reach ..
Well my cats have eaten all the leaves of my monstera and just ate 3 tulips each…..
I’ve also heard that lavender is extremely toxic to cats. But I cannot find professional info related to this plant and cat reactions. Any advice?
Definitely getting these plants for them pesky ferral cats. Glad I found this video.
The horror…the horror…
We have daisies, ivy, cycad bread sago (that's in a pot and going tomorrow) en masse in our garden!
S_ _t .
Oleander is also toxic to humans. Mythology (or true story?) also has Oleander responsible for deaths in the deep South during the slave times as slave cooks would add the leaves to the greens they cooked for their masters and their masters' children to plan for their escape. After all, who was going to miss them or say they were owned if they were dead?
By the way, the daisy family, Asteraceae, is HUGE! I don't know if all of its members are toxic to cats or not, but I would be cautious. It includes chamomile, lettuce (yes, lettuce!), dandelions, artichoke, sunflower, tarragon, a whole host of ornamental plants like dahlias, mums, and zinnias, goldenrod, and many many many other things. The most terrifying thing is that I saw a chamomile and catnip mixture marketed as a cat product at Walmart. Keep all plant-based human foods away from your cats and just be super careful about your houseplants.
i'm guessing the omitted plant is maryjane, aka marijuana for those who don't know, which my sister in law has given her car for about 12 years now and has no ill effects. i'm going to continue my own studies on which plants are actually toxic to cats an which have negligible to no effects
Whats the plant after daisies? Edit: nvm i understand now 2 mins later
I had to Google my plants to make sure.. I only own 2 that are toxic both are kept well away from my kittens.. I do own a lilly plant that will be kept right away from them. It was gifted to me on mothers day for my mum whos favourite flower was Lillie's and in memory of her I have my plant. It lives on my kitchen windowsill behind my sink where cats can't get to. And I have an aloe plant that is again kept up away from them and will be moved again as they get older to a spot they won't get to. My other plants are absolutely safe for cats and look stunning.. Just don't want them chewed on so again, they're away where my cats can't get at them.
"keep your stash away from your cats" yep… Got it.. 😂
are essential oils used in diffusers harmful for cats to breath in? Thanks so much!
Is the ultimate peacemaker set safe for a cat with feline herpes ?! Someone help 🩷🩷
If the tree Ivy next to a catio
so cats must have been dropping like flies in all the centuries they have been outside with all these killer plants.
Thank you for sharing this info about toxic plants Jackson. Many of them I knew after having cats for 60+ years, but there are some I had no idea were toxic. I don't generally have plants/flowers inside, mainly because I don't want to take a chance that there's something I DON"T know about them. I also saved the ASPCA list so I have it handy. Looking forward which plants are good for our feline friends!
