I was so hyped for this game, even just holding off from playing the game for a few minutes I remained on the title screen just to hear the glorious soundtrack.
The first hour was amazing, acting was amazing, and a lot of the bosses had some really good hype leading up to the gameplay. But things slowed way down with all the Atreus gameplay.
Without spoiling anything all I can say is that Tyr was a complete disappointment, I really wanted to see a good comparison of how different two gods of war would be in combat, total letdown!
The hype leading up to the Heimdall battle was in my opinion the coolest part of the game, and the resulting outcome of the battle was the best part of the game for me because we got to see a return to form from Kratos. The new weapon quickly became my favorite one, and that’s probably why the Heimdall battle was so special for me, so much buildup for that battle.
Overall, I think the writing for this game did not match the hype created, and ultimately that’s one of the biggest reasons I play games nowadays, for the narrative. The pacing of many sections did not help with this as I found myself kind of bored at times and that coincidentally made me rush through the game, only to find letdowns in many parts of the story, especially with the Odin story arc. The game had some really great moments but they were very few and way too far between each one. Like you, I ended up with a “that’s it?” type of feeling.
Anyway great video, good editing, and I really liked hearing your opinions on the game. If I can just say one thing, I saw your Jedi Survivor video and this one and some things you have on there seem borderline spoilers, maybe just add a warning before certain sections, or in the title. It’s just a thought, but that’s awesome man, I enjoy your videos, keep up the good work!
Thicc neck lol this game has it's flaws (lazy puzzle design and very few new combat moves for the BOC and LA) but overall great story and great voice acting
