Rumours about a new Galaxy Fold Ultra have been swirling for quite some time – so long that it was rumoured to appear alongside the rest of last year’s Galaxy foldable collection. Of course, that never happened – but it looks like it’s finally ready for prime time this year.
That’s because Samsung is teasing what it’s calling the “next chapter of Ultra”.
While you might assume that refers to its Galaxy S25 Ultra, the teaser specifically mentions a foldable form factor, and includes a silhouette of what we can only assume is the Fold Ultra.
But what can we expect from the upgraded foldable?
Big upgrades could be on the way
Samsung claims that there’s huge demand for “an Ultra-experience that goes beyond a simple list of upgraded features in a smaller and more portable form factor”, with the company’s new foldable set to “provide an experience that seamlessly blends artistry and engineering to elevate everyday interactions”.

That’s pretty nebulous, but it does sound like the Galaxy Fold Ultra – or whatever it ends up being called – could offer way more than the minor year-on-year improvements we’ve seen from Samsung’s foldable line until now.
Interestingly, the teaser mentions key areas, including AI integration optimised for the foldable form factor, cutting-edge performance and “industry-leading hardware”, but it also mentions a “powerful camera to commemorate your night out”.
The latter could be a big deal, given that camera performance often suffers with foldables due to the reduced amount of space for internal components.
If Samsung can crack that code and offer an advanced camera system – rumours suggest it could pack the same 200MP sensor as the Galaxy S25 Edge, for example – it could have a serious advantage over most of the foldable competition.

Similarly, the teaser claims that it can do all this “without weighing you down”, which sounds like the Ultra foldable will be much lighter and thinner than previous models. Could we see something similar to the impressively thin Oppo Find N5? Only time will tell.
Expect to see it in July
While yet to be confirmed by Samsung itself, rumours all point towards a reveal of the new Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip collection at an event in New York City in early July, so we don’t have that long until we see the long-awaited Fold Ultra for ourselves.
