1:36 i'm sorry..WHAT?! what do you mean frontiers is a step backward from sonic forces in storytelling? sonic forces was poorly written from mischaracterization to poorly thoughtout plot like it didn't know what it was trying to do mishcaracterization,the cast is sidelined,inconsistencies (like nothing make any sense!) in story and tone it was poorly thoughtout!! meanwhile frontiers has a much more cohesive narrative and has focus on character development here sure it's still has flaws don't get me wrong but..there's noway it's a step back from forces like just no…

2:31 ok…about the kocos i think their whole deal is they are the ancients but got wiped out by that ((the end)) Nd turned these kocos rather what's left from them and their soul is probably stayed inside those rock bodies but however i don't think it's necessarily about us player care about the kocos atleast more so about the main characters of the game i think the kocos are mostly used as a plot device to develop the characters idk if you noticed or not but the story of frontiers really has a focus on the characters and has some big character works.

like amy her arc is all about to have her own goals and motivations that isn't revolve around sonic for the first time because in her entire life most of her motivations more or less was really based on sonic by realizing the importance of love making it her primary goal to like share love in the world aka share happiness and peace to the world in a better accurate terms like this is basically an attempt from the writers to explore other side of her character further more to flesh-out her character after being notoriously known for being an annoying sonic fangirl for 2 decades while also stay true to the core essence of her character that is her crush for sonic because that's who she is.

tails' arc become independet further more from sonic while he was confident and such and hold up on his own he still had some dependency on sonic's shadow and let's be real it also wanted to address the flaws he had in his previous characterization such as in forces and make some sense out of it and grow from it..

and knuckles' arc is more straight up forward he basically wants to sometime leave the angel island and has some adventures on his own etc…after always staying on angel island so much because in the IDW comics he's always stayed on his island.
it's more like a soft reboot if anything

now of course i understand casual fans like you aren't particularly that interested or have the time to take a more deep dive into the story to understand it better or resort to supplementary media such as the idw comics(since it's canon to the games btw) because some people they don't necessarily want to resort into this kind of stuff so i can understand why so that's why i give abit more context here..but overall good review and i subbed i am new to this channel.

Sonic fans love the sonic universe it's mostly the characters that keep this fanbase attached through either growing up with his outings on the sega genesis or having the first serious story you've seen be a story from the adventure series that sticks with you (my experience) the sonic fans have kept the series alive and relevant since a game franchises that made this many bad games in a row would fade into irrelevance, many can't understand why sonic fans care so much about the story I'll try my best to explain.

Outsiders probably wouldn't get it but the sonic fanbase has been criticizing the newer sonic plots ever since colors most of us think every sonic story since then sucks and have been very vocal about it we're also annoyed that the previous stories feel self contained and Sonic jokes wouldn't be able to make a 5 year old laugh in any of the game's after unleashed.

Some people grew up with the 2D sonic they loved sonic for the gameplay it set him apart, when sonic went to 3D with the adventure series it was more focused on story and spectacle and alot of people fell in love with that sonic since lots of story in a game during that time was abnormal outside of RPG's, the complaints about the story sound hilarious since most people in the sonic fandom hate the stories of 06, colors, lost world, and forces, and the fandom love this kind of story because it corrects the bad characterization sonic character have gotten in the last decade and makes sure every game is canon, for sonic fans like me who liked the archie comics and love the new IDW run and who care more about the story than the gameplay this game is awesome.
