I think because all the toads in toad town seem to know how to jump well from platform to platform then part of the plot of the movie will be mario learning to jump like the toads and then becoming the best jumper in the mushroom kingdom.
There's a question I have that I haven't seen anyone address as yet. I notice that Biddybuds are walking around alongside the Toads as normal residents of the Mushroom Kingdom. Normally they are enemies, but here they are not posing a threat to anyone, or even to Mario. And why is that? Could this be a time where Bowser has not attacked the Mushroom Kingdom as yet, and drafted residents of the Kingdom to his cause? This would add more credence to the idea that Mario is entering the Mushroom Kingdom for the very first time.
