i was hoping for a simple explanation of the lack of drow in the movie and instead found an anti-woke crusader who somehow likes dnd of all things lmfaoo what a joke dude

I haven't seen the film yet, so I'm reserving my judgment overall. However, I think it was a big mistake not to cast Drizzt as a character, as he is one of the legendary heroes of the Forgotten Realms setting. Apparently idiotic "real life" politics once again ruined a potentially good movie plot.
Xenk works better anyway.
This movie looks great and entertaining.

I really enjoyed the DND movie!! As a movie it had wonderful underlying story features that I’d always wanted but never been given, found family, unique parental dynamics, blooming romance that moves slowly.
Some of the quotes of the movie had me really stuck in my feelings.
As a fantasy movie it was fun, heartfelt and I never got bored.
Compared to the first DND movie it was LEAPS and HEAPS better.
As a DM it felt like a campaign being played out and I really appreciated that.
Go on go see it!
I see all the Icewind Dale characters as being part of Forgotten Realms, not D&D… Honestly I didn't even know this movie was set in FR!

I actually read the Drizzt book back in the day and it would've made a great movie. I'm not interested in WotC's version of Guardians of the Galaxy so I passed on this…and will pass on anything they make for D&D from now on. I just can't with this company literally showing how ignorant and focused on racial/sexual identity it is. Really the Aragorn black face was the straw but I've been turned off by this company since Niko Aris.
Nothing can be evil anymore, not saying it would have made THE movie but having Drizzt in live action would have been cool. We shouldn't expect them to do anything neat though, WOTC is such trash. BTW Drizzt was in one of my favorite games of all times!! NOT a major character but he was in Balders Gate 2 .. and to this day that is one of the greatest Games ever MADE no matter what WOTC does to destroy D&D!

I feel like the real story is WOTC and the racism.. but it’s lost in a video about the movie. The statement the D&D rules guy said seems to me a bigger issue then which characters from the books make it into the movie.. and that this is sorta just like supporting evidence for it
