iPadOS 26 beta 3 now available ahead of public beta launch

Apple has just released iPadOS 26 beta 3 for developers. Today’s release brings the latest changes to the iPad’s big new OS update ahead of the expected public beta soon.

iPadOS 26 beta 3 has greater potential for changes following user feedback

Liquid Glass is the big theme of Apple’s new OS versions launching this fall. Every update includes a fresh design that brings greater uniformity across platforms.

But aside from that redesign, Apple clearly spent a lot of time preparing iPadOS 26’s many changes.

The new update completely overhauls multitasking and productivity on the iPad. Mac users should feel more at home on an iPad than before thanks to the new, Mac-like windowing system, the menu bar, dock improvements, Files app changes, the new Preview app, and more.

Today’s beta 3 release for iPadOS 26 is expected to offer further refinements and updates for these myriad changes.

Often in Apple’s summer beta cycle, beta 3 is about the time we start seeing developer feedback from the first beta releases make its way into the software.

This means there’s potential for significant change versus prior betas, but also the introduction of new bugs.

Hopefully, though, some critical bugs from the early betas will get fixed in this release too.

Apple has said that iPadOS 26’s public beta will launch this month. Often that happens shortly after beta 3, but that’s no guarantee.

Depending on how stable iPadOS 26 turns out to be, we might see the public beta arrive in about the next week or so.

But if Apple determines the software still has too many bugs and performance issues, it could push the public beta to later in July.
