Title: The Iconic James Bond 4K collection
Review: The Sean Connery James Bond Collection on 4K is everything you want it to be. For those of you who have debated whether to get a 4K player and 4K discs, this collection demonstrates the vastly improved digital quality and clarity of the technology. It is much brighter and the colors more vivid. It has been 50 years since the advent of Britain’s favorite secret agent in this collection, he retains all the danger and swagger of the original movies.I think the first four movies are iconic. The other two are collector’s items from the period.

Title: Connery 4K steel book set
Review: I previously had these 4K films on digital only through fandango. It is great to now have them on disc, not to mention in a slick looking box set with steel books. All of the transfers are stunning and the supplements on the discs are great. It is crazy how much better these look than the VHS sets I had as a kid in the 90s – it is like watching new movies. I’m hoping the next 4K disc release is On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (which continues to make its way up the list of my favorite Bond films with each rewatch).

Title: Lazy ca$h grab that was rushed to ca$h in on the 007 acquisition
Review: This was a quick ca$h grab to capitalize on the Bond franchise after Amazon’s historic acquisition from EON. The steelbooks have the most uninspired art just boring still photos of Connery when they should have used the original theatrical poster art.The transfers look and sound excellent in 4K but Dr. No, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger are unforgivably cropped in 1.85:1 full frame aspect ratio and not presented in their intended original aspect ratio of 1.75:1. How and why these are not preserved in OAR is just baffling as any film aficionado worth their salt will always prefer OAR over cropping. The still menus are plain and basic, the extras just ported over from the previous DVD and bluray releases. Nothing new to see here. You get your Bond in 4K but just the bare bones Bonds. What should have/could have been a spectacular presentation is just meh. Instead of serving up James Bond on a silver platter you get him in a to-go bag.

Title: Buyer beware – you may not be able to actually watch your movies
Review: As a Bond fan I was very excited to get this set, however the disc issues are unacceptable. Most of the movies froze briefly at some point, but in most cases I was able to re-open and close the disc tray and then go to the scene and pick up where I left off without it freezing again. That was enough of an inconvenience considering the price I paid, but unfortunately the disc issues were far worse with You Only Live Twice…The entire back half of the movie will not play no matter what I try. It just locks up, screen goes black for a few moments, and then it goes back to main menu. Tried cleaning the disc, jumping around to different scenes on the scene selection, etc… It’s a cool set, but owning the movies doesn’t do me any good if I can’t watch them in their entirety. It’d be great to be sent a replacement disc that actually works, but I don’t foresee that happening.

Title: You only live twice, buy it
Review: Don’t listen to the people trashing this before it even came out. This set is awesome. The artwork is unique front and back of each steelbook and the case is slick. It fits the “bond” style. The gloss 007 accents on the matte finish is a really nice touch. And the price isn’t bad realistically. $140 MSRP for 6 steelbooks comes out to just over $23 each. Thats a steel (pun intended) in 2025 when most steelbooks are $35-$55 per. Dobly atmos and Dolby vision is a huge win as well.Go hate somewhere else. If you love bond, you’ll love this set.

Title: You only buy twice (ok, maybe three times or four).
Review: Sean Connery’s Bond films established the template for the Bond films to follow. While there was a change with each actor and with the times, Connery set the standard. Daniel Craig’s later version returned to this harder edged Bond for his films (as with Timothy Dalton’s) indebted to these earlier films. This set includes the six Eon films that Connery made (a pity they couldn’t have included “Never Say Never Again” even though it wasn’t an official Bond film). The 4K transfers look quite nice. This improves on the Lowry Blu-rays which looked pretty decent for their time. This is probably the best the films will ever look-there’s not much in terms of 4K detail here due to the film stock of the time but these are superior transfers. Depth, delineation, detail look exceptional for a film of this vintage. Colors look quite good. As we progress with each film, the image quality improves. HDR enhances rather giving a modern look to the presentation.Audio is quite good with a nice, dynamic presentation for the mono presentation and a new Atmos mix for the films. The special features from the set are rhe same as the previous Blu-rays. There’s nothing new.Overall, this is a pleasing set with an upgraded transfer, sharp looking scans and improved audio.

Title: Steelbook Bond Doesn’t Disappoint
Review: These transfers and updates are phenomenal! The steelbooks are so nice, especially if you’re a huge Sean Connery/007 fan. I highly recommend this set, and am hoping that WB can do the other steelbook sets for Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig and yes George Lazenby!

Title: Amazing upgrades – the best these movies have ever looked
Review: These classic Bond movies look fantastic on 4k. They rescanned the original film negatives to get all the detail and great colors possible. The older blu-rays were over sharpened and some have wonky color grading. These new discs look like you are watching pristine film prints of the movies. They look amazing. If you like action movies at all, these are the ones that started it all. I think they deserve a place in any 4k collection. Highly recommend!

Review: A brilliant set with lovely steelbooks!I don’t understand why people review products before they are released – I think the steelbooks look amazing and as for the 4k transfer well I am very impressed. The picture looks fantastic and natural and the Dolby Atmos sound is subtle with the clearest dialogue I have ever heard on these films.

Review: I was pretty overjoyed at the thought of the Bond movies in 4k, and a re-scan of the original camera negatives in 4k too. However, I have to say I am very disappointed. Whilst they look “filmic”, the grain is preserved – these are just not impressive. They’re are just not as sharp as the Blu-rays that Lowry did some time back, and despite having more authentic colours and arguably a more original look and feel – they just don’t pop and impress vs the blu-rays. It is like looking through a haze. Some shots also look dreadful and some look amazing – it’s pretty inconsistent stuff. My research has told me that this is certainly the more “authentic” and “original” way to view these, and that the Blu-rays had quite a bit of sharpening and enhancement to make them super sharp and pop. These haven’t and just look inferior. Sorry guys! Plus, enough has been said of the truly awful artwork and the menu system has had all of 30 seconds spending on it – so the packaging and overall presentation isn’t that lavish either. I’m 50/50 on whether to send these back to be honest, I just don’t see that the 4K versions are any form of upgrade vs. the blu-rays for these old films.
