VR could be used to enhance driving.
Cars have limited visibility. With a few cameras, we can create a path through the car's interior, giving you 360-degree visibility.
It can also enhance the visibility of signs or cars during bad weather.
How about we just hang out with each other without digital?
Virtual reality is amazing. Just horrified when mega corps start getting involved.
We all shape our environment to a lesser or greater extent even if only by populating it. Your view that architects and planners are in control is very limited and goes some way to explaining why the "Top down" approach to architecture so often ends in disappointment if not outright rejection. A city that is not responsive is doomed.
We are in the middle of a balooning epidemic in mental health caused by the alienating effects of contemporary social isolation and the effects of habitual capitalist consumerism. Middle class folks might not be seeing this so often but sure as hell their children are. Virtual reality will accentuate the problems of someone already struggling with their grasp on reality in our increasingly complex lives. I think the prospect of commuters even more disengaged from their surroundings than they already are is a daunting one. As you say, people benefit from positive interaction with others. What we are seeing is escape into mobile devices and hostile reactions when that artificial privacy is disturbed. There is evidence that our willingness to communicate in reality is reducing.
This will make people feels more lonely tbh and once the novelty goes away meanwhile it has become a routine for people like phones, what follows will be just more disconnection with the reality
I hope I live long enough to see this happen, it would be fantastic!!
Why would Bancolombia also be in the Metaverse? 😮
Life is and will be ads, ha! True
Lovingly, just a note as I catch up on older videos I've missed — some of your subs aren't accurate! Maybe an auto transcription issue. 😮
Honestly it feels a little dystopian. We're overstimulated with bright blinking imagery as is, and walking down the street is one of those few moments when you can unpplug for a second. I don't want to look at digital facades, 3d-rendered trees and enhanced landscapes. I might be looking at a concrete wall incstead of pefectly crafted digital forest, but at least it's real.
Yuck yuck yuck lol that all.
SHE RLLY SAID "what about this experience " AND TOUCHED GRASS
Would focusing on AR mean that we compromise on or neglect the real spaces though? What if I chose not to use AR? Would I be able to function in society?
@2:50 I don't find masks concerning like you say it is. I've never heard anyone ever complain about that. Ever.
You have a natural gift for this.
You're the first person to make me appreciate Apple's EyeSight reasoning
5:08 nope, not doing that. When I want to watch a movie or read I want to be afp (away from people). I tolerate them enough and I do not really like to be near them. If I were rich I would probably live remotely.
08:50. So I'm an Analyst in the Media and Consumer electronics space, this is very much my area, we've seen very low uptake of VR experiences because of the isolationist impact, people were not even comfortable wearing 3D glasses at home. Sports in one of the biggest use cases against, we are all familiar with the game night phenomenon. MR experiences I suspect will be prominently limited to gaming for some time to come i think.

I've just drafted up a Psycho Thriller Movie plot in my mind within few minutes of watching it. 🥴
The biggest thing that for now holds back this to being common place is wearability and durability. No one wants to walk around with a giant vr headset strapped on to their heads. For one its heavy, two, you look like an idiot. Also portable headsets only last a couple of hours until needing recharge, after that you get to carry around dead weight. Until this is compacted down to sunglasses or contact lenses size, it's not picking up speed. This also has some other issues like being used to "mask" certain less safe areas such as back alleys that you instantly get a sense of danger from their aspect and make them look virtually nice and giving a false sense of safety from what it really is
Super video
It would be a horrific idea to have augmented reality widespread.
Too many people already cannot accept the real world in their face. Giving them another filter into delusion would help no one.
