U.S. Production Surge

U.S. output surpasses 19 million barrels per day, driven by advances in hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling. Currently, the country is a net exporter of petroleum products.

Key regions like the Permian Basin and Bakken formation have attracted massive investment and technological innovation. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, U.S. oil production growth has averaged about 5% annually over the past five years.

Middle Eastern and Russian Coordination

Saudi Arabia and Russia each maintain production above 11 million barrels per day, together providing nearly a quarter of global supply. Through coordinated OPEC+ quota adjustments and strategic reserve management, they play a pivotal role in stabilizing oil prices.

Saudi Arabia leverages its low-cost reserves to buffer market shocks, while Russia expands its pipeline networks and Arctic fields to meet demand.

Growth Beyond the Top Three

Canada’s oil sands operations in Alberta push its daily output to about 5.7 million barrels, making it the fourth-largest producer, with Iran next with 4.6 million barrels.

Together, these mid-tier producers contribute over 11% of global supply. According to Rystad Energy, ongoing approvals and expansions in these countries are set to lift their output further through the end of the decade.
