I was so confused and thought "what kind of carrots keeps this guy talking about?!", until I finally realized that's how you pronounce "cards".
I think your criticism here is spot on. In the computer game, when you have a bad run, the game just lets you die and try again.
In the card game, when you have a bad run, you're just stuck there for nearly an hour wishing you'd pulled something else off the shelf.
The fact that luck is more influential than skill when determining if you get a good start or a bad start was a big part of what drove me away from both versions of the game

The Bum-bo card must look OP
It's not a complicated game and I don't agree people take much time.
And you can be bad at it, and good. And good players win a lot more often. So it's always been a fast game for me. Also do not play with more than 4 players
