Dogs are stupid get cats
Always had dogs that followed and come when called in the past, but just got this new 5 month pitbull puppy and can’t trust off leash or will come when I call. I know it’s just a pup, but worried it’ll stay that way and get away one day. Oh the pup did run off into a busy street and scare me that my new pup would be killed or seriously hurt.
Also on leash, the pup seem to want to get away being leash and a few struggle have gone on. Like biting the leash and not wanting to go where I’m directing the pup. The hard pulling in the leash is exhausting and my other issue with this hard to tame pup.
My Golden will play keep away at the farm if not on a lead. However, he only stays a few feet away, after running to the creek and back, and follows me around, sits and watches. He also follows the truck and tractor around. I find that ignoring him works. Doing the collar touch while on a lead and giving a treat is a good idea also.

I have a Samoyed GSD mix who every now and then needed to take an adventure on her own. She really enjoyed having me run after her while she kept increasing the distance. Even high value treats would not entice she to come back she was much too smart for that. If I spoke to her sternly that hurt her feelings and kept her away. I found the thing that worked the best was to keep my mood light and playful like you suggested. If she did return I remembered to praise her because even if she didn’t return right away eventually she did return and I felt she needed to know that she did the right thing.
One time she slipped away onto a service road running parallel to a highway and I was afraid she may run through the ditch on to the highway. I used my car to catch up to her but she ran faster down the service road. I finally decided to use some reverse logic with her and turned the car around and invited her back by opening the car door for her and calling her name. She stopped running away but still would not come so I got in the car and started driving in the opposite direction slowly down the gravel road. I must have been about a half mile away from her before she decided to run back to me. As she got closer I got out of the car to greet her gleefully as she ran into the car. That was scary and I don’t forget to bring a leash anymore.

The problem is my dog already know i will be angry with him ,so if i suddenly become happy he will not listen to me as well .he know me very well
For me it isn’t anger it’s fear
It is often not me that is behaving the wrong way but the other person who, (understandably when its not a dog person) is scared or angry at the approaching dog. Yelling , shouting from the other person is making it worse, too.
Ngl my dog pisses me off I’ve literally tried all of these and she still won’t listen. It’s so annoying when I’m trying to leave and she won’t come inside 😭

Just now 7:00 pm my doberman female ran away and was very hard to catch her since its dark. She ran every house and as soon as i approach her again she run. She thought its a game but she didn't realise that my breath 🫁 is drained.

He thinks it's a game and runs around me and jumps trying not to let me put it on till I get him and it wouldn't be an issue to me as I can be patient, but I know I'll need to get him quickly in situations and a "game" isn't a fast way to safely get him every time

Today my dog escaped a fenced in tennis court I took him to chase ball. He ran up to the dogs in the grassy area nearby – and I could not for the life of me get him to recall , pay attention to me, OR stay in one place long enough to grab/catch him. If you let my dog off the lead he runs away and doesn’t look back he just keeps running. He’s the best behaved dog ever in the house with no hassle whatsoever but as soon as you take him outside he just pulls as hard as he can for the whole duration of the walk
On here because I accidentally dropped the lead and my dog ran into the road and nearly got hit by a car this Morning. I tried running away, he just stood an watched. I tried acting excited, but he didn't care. I threw treats, he ate it but as soon as I came close he ran off exited. I've been training recall for the last 4 months and have been making great progress. But this Morning has made be feel I'm back to step 1. I'm so gutted.
