The Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing, or ARM, Institute last week posted a request for proposals for a project to add functionality to the RoboticsCareer.org website. The national platform offers a database of training and education programs offered in the U.S. in alignment with the institute’s Robotics Competency Framework.
The ARM Institute launched RoboticsCareer.org in 2021 as a resource to help employers and job seekers connect. Its database includes descriptions of almost 17,000 programs from more than 2,400 training providers and has been maintained manually.
In March, the ARM Institute added employer capabilities to RoboticsCareer.org. It used input from more than 450 industry partner organizations to enhance talent search, automate e-mail notifications, and identify graduates of endorsed training programs.
It also added profile preview and endorsement badge capabilities for job seekers and students. The ARM Institute previously updated the site in March 2024.
RoboticsCareer.org database needs automation
The ARM Institute said it is seeking a solution provider to create an automated system that would help collect, validate, and maintain the database of education providers and their programs. The system must be able to identify and update attributes including the type of degree or certification, as well as whether a training program is online or hybrid.
“The data collected must be easily accessed for data analytics and reporting,” noted the nonprofit organization.
The institute said it will evaluate proposals based on their technical approach and methodology, experience and past performance, accuracy and classification capabilities, cost and value, and scalability and maintainability.
The project will be work for hire, and the ARM Institute said it will own any source code that is created for it, but the organization said it expects to work with the software provider on enhancements.
Proposals are due Aug. 15. For further information, contact John Zappa, senior director of product management, at john.zappa@arminstitute.org.

About the ARM Institute
The ARM Institute is a Manufacturing Innovation Institute (MII) funded by the Office of the Secretary of Defense under Agreement Number W911NF-17-3-0004. Founded in 2017, it is part of the Manufacturing USA network, whose budget would be cut from $18 million to $18 million in the proposed federal budget.
The Pittsburgh-based ARM Institute is a consortium of more than 450 members and partners across industry, academia, and government. In May, it appointed industry veteran Jorgen Pedersen as its CEO.
Its stated goal is “to make robotics, autonomy, and artificial intelligence more accessible to U.S. manufacturers large and small, train and empower the manufacturing workforce, strengthen our economy and global competitiveness, and elevate national security and resilience.”
The ARM Institute claimed that it “is leading the way to a future where people and robots work together to respond to our nation’s greatest challenges and to produce the world’s most desired products.”
