Sorry for the rant but :
"Nintendo 64 emulation is still not perfect" (paraphrasing) : It's the absolute WORST.
It's not "not perfect", it's absolutely horrendous in a ton of ways, for basically all games. This emulation makes games hard to enjoy, it had pretty much no updates for years and years, and the small devs attempting to actually make a cycle-accurate emulator abandoned their project at its infancy looking at how daunting the task is; which is why I don't trust Analogue on this at all, I think they "thought it was easy", launched pre-orders, got hit by a gigantic wall, and now are too far to back off.
And no, Nintendo still doesn't understand how to emulate their own console, and never actually did. Wii was pretty much the best they had, but even then, it had random crashes and clear inaccuracies / different behaviour compared to the original hardware.
It's even worse now with their update on the Switch 2, there's less input lag but now the sound lag is like half a second compared to Sw1.
Dude… save your energy for the 31.

I don't understand these fpga consoles when they aren't cheap and the real thing is still readily available for less. Might as well just get a real console plugged into a retrotink, mod for hdmi, or just get a mister.
I've honestly been checking Analogue's website and my email everyday since I preordered the 3D and wondering when I'm going to see something. Analogue seems to be very "quiet" with the 3D right now even though it's supposed to ship this month in July, which is disconcerting at this point. .
If everyone here commented on their socials instead of this video, maybe they’d get a clue.
Highly doubt the games would run natively in 4k since they're not optimized for it.
You notice that when you emulate them in a higher resolution and get graphical glitches like badly aligned textures or fonts.

GLAD I DIDNT PREORDER! It took legit decades just to get flash carts and MISTer barely works with n64 without some levels of fuckery. This is no suprise to me.
I love my man RGT and I have the same pain with this system as he does…watch tomorrow we get an update.

Analogue have always had a poor business model – they profit off shipping 💯 (if I ever import a console to the UK the shipping is almost as much as the console 😂) but for the first couple of years they made amazing products and more importantly they had the monopoly on FPGA – the NT mini, Super NT and Mega SG all absolutely stellar consoles and at the time there was nothing really like them (Retro USB AVS for Nes). The Pocket and the PCE meh not so much – didn’t pick up a Pocket and I was glad, the PCE I never use, got RGB modded original hardware and a Turbo Everdrive which I prefer. I took a pass on this N64, I got a HDMI N64 and an RGB modded one, with an Everdrive, so no need really. The difference is, Analogue had a great rep for quality products you couldn’t get anywhere else, so people put up with the poor business model – now the industry has caught up and there are alternatives (honestly, rather than shelling out on one of these build a MisTer) plus the disappointment with the last 2 or 3 products – Analogue really needs to change or they will become irrelevant.

When they released the Pocket adapters (finally) the firmware for the NeoGeo Pocket adapter had a TON of compatibility issues. Most games would just crash to a black screen after boot up. I don't trust this company anymore
I agree about the communication but sheesh, mans gotta chill out ngl, we all pre ordered back in October, we've all been waiting the same amount of time, i could be angery about something so minor, or i can be happy and excited for when i finally get that email, its something to look forward too, and if it fails, then they lose many consumers and possibly the company as a whole, the n64 community isnt something to mess around with. Just take a step back and breath my guy, no need to be upset over something like this, you said it yourself, its just 300 bucks. Idk maybe im just more zen than most, i say let them perfect what theyre working on, rome wasnt built in a day.

I'm holding my preorder for now, but I'm waiting for the 8bitdo controllers more than anything right now. If it gets past July and no word from Analogue, I might wait another month or two, then I'll probably cancel. If I do cancel, i'll probably also be selling my other analogue consoles (SuperNT and MegaSG). Since the N64 core dropped for the MiSTer project, I've mostly been sticking to it for all my retro gaming.
