Why I SOLD my Steam Deck OLED for the Nintendo Switch 2…

I have noticed there is a loud mouthed minority of Steam Deck Users or Linux users who get angry at any other handheld including Switch and other Windows PC handhelds. I love the Deck but grow up people – let people enjoy what they enjoy. You know it is a loud minoroty as Linux counts for around 2 percent of Steam gamers .

With the lastest firmware update bricking steam decks all over reddit, I sold mine after it stopped working after having it 1 year. I have videos on my channel fixing some errors I dealt with, honestly i'm glad i got to help so many people but man, the issues should not be there to begin with. Ive been stress free since getting rid of my deck, sick of it restarting its self or crashing in sleep mode and the battery honestly not the greatest you get like an hour in hogwarts legacy and its more blurry than the switch 1 version. Some new games are great but forget about 80 percent of AAA titles on the deck just play them elsewhere. And if you push your deck too hard you can also brick the internals, as i did playing fortnite using heroic launcher, just kept crashing after, tried changing SSD and nothing sold as defective. RIP.

I can see that you're getting a lot of flack for your decision in the comments. But as a PC player myself, who have been gravitating more towards the Switch 2 recently, I think many of us underestimate the actual value of having a more straight-forward and simple gaming platform. It's a huge weight off your shoulders to know that the game you are about to boot up has been tested thoroughly on your specific device. It's not a guarantee that it will run smoothly 100% of the time, but at least you know it will run and that everything inside the game (interface, HDR, controls etc.) is optimized to suit the system. Whenever a new PC game comes out I instantly think "will it run smoothly on my system?", and that's not including the countless of hours I have to spend tinkering just to get rid of stuttering, bad HDR optimization and what not. On a Switch the game might look worse but it's in the realm of what you expect so you don't have the need to push the boundries, thus saving you time and getting rid of the usual "what if I changed or upgraded this…" obsessive thinking. You press a button, the game boots, the game works – ultimate win!

Your a liar palworld works fine on the steam deck. Also why buy something you really didn’t want? I used my steam deck as a main system for almost two years now a switch or switch 2 couldn’t do that. It’s a gaming handheld and a PC. Your just a lying fanboy

I have been saying this for yrs…people like covienience and that's what Yr paying for. With a console.

Personally, I like a console and the steam deck, for everything else.
Instead of the hassle with my dated gaming laptop.

Thanks so much for this video. I was feeling the same way about my steam deck. Yes it is a great system but the Switch 2 looks great. You can just play the game and not have change the settings or make adjustments is the way for me. I m looking forward to the comparison. Not sell my SD yet, 😊

I don’t understand how anyone would do that. Nintendo resells you games you owned on their previous consoles over and over again. While on steam if they released a Steam Deck 2 you’ll still have all your games. This also goes for any pc hardware upgrade.

I dont know if it counts… I sold my XBox Series on the Gamestop promo, I'll use my ROG ALLY Z1E to replace Microsoft games

Honestly apart from the high prices i see no reason to not buy a switch 2. 10x better than the og switch and the switch as is, is pretty impressive for what nintendo did with a 4gb ram system! The switch 2 will have 12gb ram and just gonna rock! Being able to play high tier games such as cyberpunk, elden ring, ff7 remake… just incredible and the nintendo exclusives plus, mind you limited, backwards compatibility on switch 1 games… the library for this thing is gunna be just ridiculous for a handheld/console! Without a jailbreak this things capabilities are impressive! Having that mouse feature is pretty sick tbh! Imagine call of duty using this! I really cant wait to get 1 myself! I seen gamecube emulation and was just loving this thing! I can only hope nintendo adds more emulators such as wii and wii u but also dreamcast and sega saturn hell nds emulation and n3ds would be nice! This device should easily handle all those easily! Thats going to be alot of titles if added and good titles that if nintendo releases will play the old games alot better than tweaking settings in pc emulation! Plus nintendo usually adds enhancements to these emulators! All the og switch emulators are easy to use and have save and load state features as well as rewind! Nintendo may be pricey with the unit and now pushing it with $80 games but apart from that cannot deny it is a pretty sick upgrade from the switch 1

I could never sell my Rog ally. Having access to majority of past games, now being able to play portably plus emulation is king.

You make a good point about switch 2 being more seamless, however mentioning breath of the wild for switch 2 (now confimed a $90 dollar games) as a reason to buy it for yourself is wild
