Hello there! I’ve noticed the recent feedback and backlash in the comments, and I felt it was important to clarify a few things about the video:
I acknowledge that I got a lot of things wrong about Procreate. This video was supposed to be about my first time using the app and testing it out because I’ve heard so much positive reception about it! Inevitably, I missed out on many features. The title may come across as a bit harsh, but it reflected the general question I had throughout: "With so many people using it, is it really that good?"
And the answer to that question is: Yes, it is!
Thank you to everyone who corrected me and shared helpful art tips for Procreate—I’ve been testing them out! For example, you can use the fill bucket tool on a different layer by switching the mode to ‘reference,’ so thank you for explaining that guys. I’m also aware now that there’s a reference tool and a brush history in Procreate. These weren’t mentioned in the video, and, admittedly, in hindsight, that was a poor decision on my part. Procreate has so many great features, like the brush size presets, 3D models, better brush customizations, and many other things I didn’t cover in the video. I've been trying to use it a lot more. So, no, I don’t think Procreate is overrated.
For beginners looking for a good introduction to digital art, Ibis Paint is a great app! It has a lot of fantastic features if you look past the funky UI and the many ads. There’s a reason why so many artists are able to create masterpieces on it. Yes, in many aspects, it falls short compared to Procreate. I didn’t mean to come off as biased toward Ibis Paint—I was just trying to share some love for it..
The reason I suggested testing out Ibis Paint before Procreate is that I believe building up your art skills makes a difference! I WASN'T saying Procreate is BAD or that you SHOULDN'T buy it. I was suggesting that you might want to consider purchasing it after building up your skills! Think of it like buying cheap versus expensive color pencils. If you don’t know how to use color pencils, you won’t get much out of the expensive ones. But of course, you can always develop your skills while ALSO using Procreate :> So, do what works for you, guys—you don’t always have to take my word for it. I’m just trying to look out for you all! <3
To my Ibis Paint users: I’m so sorry for saying there isn’t an undo/redo button on the app. It turns out the setting was disabled for me for some reason…(very embarrassing smh 😞)
Once again, I apologize for the dogpile of mistakes I made (me being an idiot as always ykyk). I’m still new to this content creation thing, after so I’ll take this as a learning experience and make sure I don’t repeat these mistakes in the future. I didn’t mean to start a war in the comments. 😭😭
I hope this clears everything up. Have a nice day guys, let's end this with a fun question!
Who's your favourite art youtuber? mine's Viyaura :>> js watched her vid an hour ago (early gang nyeheheheh)
i bought procreate because i have drawing lessons that teach me how to make animations and how to draw very good i also use it when i have time to make animations right now im focused at making a dinosaur fight but my skills are trash so the animation is nit that good
no i cant afford procreate its expensive plus ipad its also expensive
art program i use:
mobile: ibis paint x
pc: clip studio paint
Yeah I’m pretty sure this is biased, as a procreate fan and user for years. Anyways, my opinion about the selection tool is COMPLETELY the opposite. The procreate selection tool is simple and easy to use. But when I use ibisPaint and I select something, it is SO hard for me to work with. I struggle so much with unselecting, and I literally need to search up how to unselect it, even then I’m still clueless. For me, the ibisPaint interface is so clunky and hard to use.
I use procreate it does have bad sides but I love it but it depends I really use ibis paint too but for different purposes
I got procreate when I was really young and I’ve grown to love it! Ibis isnt my fav because ya know I don’t really use it but someday I’ll use it 😀 not saying ibis is bad
I use ibis paint; i use a standard android tablet and clip studio paint scares me. I too am very cautious of money..
I js don’t know how to use ibis paint x procreate is good but isn’t the best ever
I use mostly ibis and procreate. But ibis has my heart forever 😩
As an ibis premium user its the best app for me including the new feature for custom brushes! The ads did get annoying but were worth the ten bucks, especially for the few filters it adds.
Ibis has the “two finger undo” it’s in the settings. You can control how many fingers do what as well.
i draw on PC and i got a app that i really like to use for drawing on pc wich is Krita, it's free and it has no ads, no premium and stuff, it's really great
well- ive been using ibis paint for a long time and ive recently started using procreate. Personally, they’re both awesome and if you cant decide you could js use them both (i prefer ibis for filters and stuff cause im still figuring out procreate)
3:02 I use Clip studio paint pro on a single device. I'm happy with it
3:48 Actually if you go into the layer settings and select your lineart layer, You can activate references and allows you to use the bucket tool inside the lines on another layer 😀
actually ibis paint has shortcuts
the reason some people might use the private photo is due to the fact some people might use nude references, or, for someone like me, using a reference to draw someone that doesnt really want their face on social media if you decide to post the speedpaint. now yes, some people might use it to trace, but dont always jump to that conclusion
i use both ibis paint and procreate! ibis paint for my lasso fill tool and procreate for other things
I use the notes app.
The real question is can 8 do Split View with procreate because it’s not worth it if I can’t watch YouTube on iPad or use Pinterest at the same time then I’m no gettting it
This aged poorly with how money hungry Ibis got. #antiibispaint
Tbh, I’ve used procreate for AGEEEEEESSSSSS the only thing I wished it had was the lasso fill tool like ibis paint how you can get crisp lines when rendering
i actually love procreate's selection tool and think it is SUPER easy to use compared to other drawing apps! i've tried ibispaint's selection tool but the weird overlapping effect on it makes it so weird and hard to use for me ;-; so no, i dont think everyone that uses procreate can wholeheartedly agree that it sucks haha.. i really enjoyed your video though and learned a lot about ibispaint and enjoyed seeing your perspective on my favorite drawing program.
i just wanted to share a critique that making such objective and generalizing statements arent a very good idea and can definitely make quite a few people mad.. i hope no one attacks you over it and i apologize on behalf of procreate lovers if they do!
I personally prefer Procreate, I’m just more used to it. But everyone has their own opinion 🙂
Clip studio paint worth the money
Hey in least your not alone…… I use ibis paint to
3:04 sketch book
I use iArtbook and ibis paint
I do agree with you about ibis paint I use it to draw cause I like you said it’s easy to use and and I just started out using iArtbook which is both free and easy to use but the fill tool is like pro create but over all I think iArtbook is good and is pretty good for my art style
Ibis paint X
Yo bestie Ibis paint 😊
