While Gotham Knights is trying to be different, it even failed there. It pretty much failed at launch due to lack of options, character design, and introductions of abilities are nonexistent from source material (ex: Red Hood gaining magic abilities when he's a tech based antihero). I'd be surprised if WB even considered to get the devs to make a sequel, but they should have picked another dev team or hired another to help out the Montréal team.
I actually enjoy the game. It's a shame to see the media and youtubers trashing it for a hype. At moments the game is less detailed than Gotham Knight. The game has 4 characters, a bunch of unique mechanics, nice boss fights, and high difficulty. Apparently, fans of pushing one button to win just couldn't beat it. I especially want to mention the chemistry and character reveal. For me this is the game of the year, highly recommend to all fans of DC and especially the bat family.

One thing about games nowadays is you cant trust any reviews just play the game for yourself and refund if you dont like it. Im 30 hours in and the only thing that bothers me is the performance issues.
Personally I think the proper way of enticing a player to keep playing shouldn't be "the game becomes enjoyable when you start unlocking things", instead it should follow the DMC formula of "look at this cool shit you can unlock/could do if you level up yeah, you can hold your own with the basic stuff, BUT WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO DO THIS?".

The combat is far not clunky I been playing since day one
There is nothing wrong with GK Jason's body. (tho his hair, and face is atrocious)
In the comic books, canonically Red Hood is heavier than Batman, but a few inches shorter. (Jason is 225 lbs, Bruce is 210)
If you search for comic book panels where Jason stands near Batman, you would realize, that the size difference is very slight between them.
Jason looks like a thug, because he is a mobster. He worked as one, and took over the criminal underworld of Gotham for a while, became a crime boss..
He also went undercover as a thug, in Black Mask's criminal organization.
(Also I think Dick Grayson is too tall in GK. Standing near Batman (in the comics) shows that he is noticeable more lighter, and shorter than his mentor.)
As was the case with the Saints Row reboot, I saw so, so, SO many people who had their ears pinned back, torches and pitchforks at the ready, sleeves rolled up, cracking their knuckles, ready to tear this game a new one the moment it launched. Forget giving it a fair shot; forget judging it on its own merits; forget being impartial and reasonable; they had basically made up their minds long before they even pressed start.
Made me roll my eyes so hard. Like you said, this game is nowhere near "worst of the year." Not even close. Yes, it has bugs, yes, it has technical issues, chief among them the much-discussed fps issues and the surprisingly high PC requirements. The devs definitely dropped the ball when it comes to optimization and I will not let them off the hook. But the game does many things right, and I'm enjoying it. Obviously people's mileage will vary, depending largely on their own tastes. But no way in hell this game is Worst Of The Year.

Fighting system? Is basically brain-dead, in Arkham games, when you performed any combo attack, enemies would kindly wait, but not in this game,
you can get killed almost in 1 second when you try to grab someone, maybe wouldn't be that bad, when you could just heal normally, but no,
you can do it only a couple of times, and they doesn't even heal you full Hp, only to some degree
Maybe I at least will be rewarded with any satisfaction(Which isn't too much in this game) when my friend gets to buy it…
i beg to differ on red hood being the worse lol, can usually one shot higher level enemies with a headshot if you build crit 🙂

Finished it yesterday. Can’t understand 4-5/10 reviews. For a game to be rated that bad it has to be broken. I would give it a 7-8/10. Enjoyed it.

You know what’s funny, is i didn’t notice any bad freezes or gameplay frame rate drops, BUT i did crash 2-3 times 😂 it’s not even graphically intense.
This crap is not worth $70. Maybe $20. Waiting to unlock getting around the map fun moves, was a mistake. Arkham had it from the beginning.
I think the only problem is the combat system, if it wasn't for that probably the game would be pretty decent

the game is running pretty well for me on a 2080 msi card .32 megs of DDR2 SSD drive and a I 4790k .
I started almost refunding the game but the more i play it the more i like it.
My biggest complaint is that the multiplayer match making is horrible . you Select "quick match" and you get paired with someone whom may be playing it in easy mode or normal when you are playing it in hard. or you get thrown into a hard game when you were playing it on easy or normal.I had 3 people join my game and then leave after getting their arse handed to them by a regular mission because in Hard you can't just mash buttons . you have to properly use stealth and disengeging mechanics as well as perfect blows and dodges . a better match maker would be one that allows you to type what you are looking for .
Also i agree that this game feels like it was made to be on 10-40 people servers and later they abandoned the idea. which sucks because that would had solved some of the issues.
This is one of the best games I have played in a long time. No bugs on my series x. The storyline is great as well! This is a completely different game from arkham and comic book storyline.

Thanks for being honest about the game and being willing to look past the flaws. I want to play this game, flaws and all, but I’m gonna wait for a sale and some patches first. It’s frustrating seeing all the people dumping on it for likes and views, and I’m glad to see some people enjoying it for what it is.

In my opinion the game isn't too bad. It's not the best, it's not the worst. I love the Arkham games and they are my favourite games, but I went into GK with an open mind and because I also love the Batfamily as characters. I'd say the game is at it's best once you get enough skills to differentiate the knights and play to their strengths. It's fun and easy to jump in and out if you want something to play. I just like jumping in doing all the missions for the night, returning to the Belfry and seeing if I unlocked any new gear. The grind isn't bad at all if you just keep doing mission and you will eventually pick up some nice stuff. You don't have to kill x, y number of times compared to other loot grind games. There's no level gating or gear gating where I need this certain kit to actually advance in the game compared to Monster Hunter where I am basically locked because I don't wanna fight the same thing for and hour 5 times which I heavily dislike. It's a casual, fun game. Devs are slowing rolling out patches such as fixing things like dropping off ledges. Not the worst or the best. It's just kinda there…
I enjoy this video, thank you for sharing. I appreciate that Gotham Knights is not trying to imitate the Arkham Knights games, but wish there was more improvement on overlooked glitches or interacting with the Gotham city. I prefer if we had the option to speak or wave to the civilians rather than only attack them.
I grew up with the Arkham series and it’s still my favorite game franchise. Gotham knights is not an Arkham game and that’s why people hate it. The game plays good, just not as an Arkham game.
So no, it’s not as bad as you think. That’s coming from someone who disliked the idea of the game when it was first announced in 2020
After Elden Ring I think open world games are going to be reviewed bad unless they're as good as Elden Ring. Any game that uses what I call the Assassin Creed style of open world is going to get destroyed in reviews now. I think even Ghost of Tsushima would have been torn apart if it came out after Elden Ring. I also think charging $70 for this game when it can barely get 30 fps does not feel good. This feels like a game that would do very well on Gamepass.
Only interested in Red Hood. A shame they didn't put in Azrael.

I really don't get it. I had a gamecrashing bug at Mr. Freezes Quest, but apart from that, it's a great game. Sure, it's different, but I'm enjoying it a great deal. Evolution was necessary. I miss counters in combat, but other than that … nice game. 7,5/10
