Having discussed this subject of the natural extension to The Drake Equation remotely with Robin during COVID lockdown, I get the feeling that there is one possibility not often discussed about "Grabby Aliens", and thus the "Fermi Paradox", and "Great Filter" – the very real Conservation Of Energy reality which says that if Spacetime Communication is possible at or above Light Speed, then we should expect an Alien Encounter far sooner via Virtual Reality and Broadband Transmission than through Spacefaring – due to the Energy Costs of such advanced Tech such as pushing matter through space at reasonable velocities.
BTW – the most likely energy signature for Comms from hyper-advanced aliens is likely to be – Gravity Wave Modulation. The more advanced, the more likely they are using Media and techniques more efficient than our current (admittedly simple) detection methods.

Lots if great ideas in here that seem plausible. UFOs as the rsilt of panspermia siblings. And their purpose is to dissuade us from colonizing. Maybe they have some insight into the wider universe, and this ties into the dark firest theory, and realize it would be very bas for us and them to make ourselves known. And if thats the case, they just be "fairly" close by.
I really like this theory and it explains a lot. The one thing rhats still ambiguous is how exactly theyre going to achieve this by just having this random ufo encounters. No alien civilization can be millions or tens of millions or hundreds of millions of years "more advanced than us" because no civilization in the Universe has such a lifespan. So the aliens who visit us are, at best, only a few thousand years older and more advanced than us. Namely, Nature is very intelligent, life exists throughout the Universe, but the distances from one point where an intelligent life form exists, to another point where another form of intelligent life exists, are simply set at such a distance that the chances of two intelligent life forms ever meeting in the Universe are reduced to a minimum. This rule of Nature is additionally ensured by the constant "expansion of the Universe", whereby, in parallel with the development of a highly developed alien life form, the distance between two alien forms of intelligent species is constantly increasing and thus makes their technology almost always insufficient to be able to ever reach another intelligent species in the Universe. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule, when an intelligent species reaches a certain level of evolution and technological progress, sufficient to transcend this "Abyss of Natural Laws". Then this form of intelligence will certainly lead to the complete disappearance of dozens if not hundreds of other intelligent species, which were less developed than them. This is so rare that it falls under the "statistical error" because Nature possesses exceptional intelligence and is in the function of maintaining its plan for the creation, maintenance and survival of life in the Universe.

Oh Please! Everyone has their own idea it seems and some are more lacking than others. 1. He takes "origin of life via abiogenesis" as a done deal.
2. He takes evolution by natural selection as another done deal.
3. He appears to believe that "objects" and "space" are fundamental and independent of each other
How can I possibly commit myself to watching a 96mins podcast when it starts out this flawed?
I would not have expected a person so schooled in Physics and the problems confronting Physics, Evolutionary Biology, and Cosmology as Curt to host this Robin guy.
