Limx Dynamics Inc. last week launched its latest generation of humanoid robots. The company’s new flagship LimX Oli has its dynamic walking roots in the LimX CL-1 humanoid launched back in December 2023.
The Robot Report honored LimX Dynamics earlier this year with an RRB50 Robotics Innovation Award for its Tron1 multi-modal biped robot. The Shenzhen, China-based company has been working to commercialize legged robots.
LimX Oli stands at 165 cm (5 ft., 5 in.) and is equipped with 31 active degrees of freedom, excluding end effectors. The robot is configured with a modular hardware-software architecture and is supported by a development toolchain, said LimX. The CL-1 was purely a bipedal research platform and was never equipped with functional hands or end effectors.
According to the company, the new humanoid is built to advance embodied AI development from algorithm research to real-world deployment. Targeted at AI researchers, robotics developers, and systems integrators, the new model is available in Lite, EDU, and Super editions for training, validating, and applying perception, motion-control, and interaction control algorithms.
The LimX Oli will make its public debut this week at the World Robot Conference (WRC) in Beijing.

LimX Oli has a modular design
LimX Oli features modular hardware and software design with well-defined, developer-friendly interfaces, asserted LimX Dynamics. It claimed that hardware components can be easily swapped.
The robot supports two-finger grippers or dexterous five-finger hands, as well as third-party peripherals including microphones, cameras, tactile sensors, inertial measurement units (IMUs), and lidar sensors. The company said the modular design also enables easy customization for a variety of tests or tasks.
The open software development kit (SDK) provides access to full-body state, sensor data, joint-level control, and task-level orchestration. Whether for teleoperation systems or imitation learning pipelines, developers can rapidly build and test without modifying the underlying architecture, said LimX.

LimX Oli integrates cloud-based application programing interfaces (APIs) and local control, providing a unified experience, said the company. Motion libraries and controller modules are delivered via over-the-air (OTA) updates, enabling developers to use preset motions or develop and deploy custom logic for fast iteration and real-world testing.
The platform also supports onboard deployment of large language models (LLMs), allowing natural language interaction and multi-stream sensor fusion for advanced perception, planning, and embodied reasoning.
Learn more about humanoids at RoboBusiness
Don’t miss RoboBusiness 2025 on Oct. 15 and 16 in Santa Clara, Calif. The conference includes sessions focused on humanoid robot development and deployment, including a keynote panel on “Lessons Learned from First Humanoid Deployments,” featuring Melonee Wise, chief product officer at Agility Robotics; Katlyn Lewicke, head of global automation strategy and intel at GXO Logistics; and Jim Fan, director of AI and a distinguished scientist at NVIDIA.
The humanoid track at RoboBusiness will also include sessions on:
- “Humanoids for Real Applications: Mastering Safety and Performance,” with Nikolai Ensslen, CEO of Synapticon
- “Advancements in Humanoid Actuation,” with Jordan Schaeffler, strategic business development engineer at Novanta
- “Integrating Behavioral Science into Humanoid Design,” with Ram Devarajulu, vice president and head of robotics for North America at Cambridge Consultants
