Honestly I've put forty hours into this game and it feels like.. five? minutes. I'm doing a campaign with my wife and then a solo campaign and this is frankly the most fun I've had since Elden Ring on release. Thank you for the review, Silver Mont, always informative even if I'm having it play in the background as I play, well, Baldurs Gate.
Err, stop talking about other games (Pokemon, COD) this is about the greatest PC game that released in the last 10 years.
Regardless, thanks for the review.
The tadpole in my brain is compelling me to leave a comment about this concise and informal review. Like a knowledgeable friend telling you about a game, but careful of spoilers and going onto related tangents.
Bg3 has singlehandedly reignited my love for iso rpgs. Im loving just exploring and finding stuff. No goal, just explore and find adventure. Im currently playing as a female version of drizzt lol
As someone who played the first and second baldurs gate they are intersting but the combat especially in the second game is tedious because of the natur of second edition dnd. Also the story is completly seprated
00:34 Divinity Original Sin 2 had a bunch of issues. NPCs being alive again despite dying in a previous chapter. You could cheese nearly every combat encounter in multiple ways. The leveling system made exploration strictive. Playing endgame combat "fairly" meant stunlocking or oneshotting enemies, so that they can't stunlock or oneshot you first. Characters with high Persuasion were the only ones you could use to talk to NPCs (to access all the dialogue options), even if using another character for the conversation made more sense story-wise. Since it is the same developers, I have to ask: does Baldur's Gate 3 have these issues as well?
04:40 Freedom was also the main strength of DOS2. A good portion of the freedom was fake of course, as you would discover on consecutive playthroughs, but it was still impressive.
07:50 So multiplayer also works the same way as in DOS2?
So overall, it sounds a lot like Baldur's Gate 3 is just Divinity Original Sin 3. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I did enjoy DOS2 enough to play through it multiple times, but it would mean I have to lower my expectations.
Bestiality game, download and suffer in hell for eternity.
For quite a few reasons I've been holding off on buying BG3, but I think the way you mentioned how long it takes to complete it is what has sold me. Threw me for a loop when you mentioned 50 hours as being not an appropriate estimate because I thought you were going to say a lower number lol. Hundreds of hours on a single playthrough sounds amazing to me, and now I'm quite excited!
As a console peasant I am patiently waiting and trying hard to finish at least one playthrough of Divinity 1 and 2. Great review Silver Mont! The praise is truly well deserved.
Well said.
