Using the argument that gamers MUST not like a game simply because the lead character is a female is something these lazy wokists love to pull out of thin air, with absolutely no basis surrounding it. Every guy I know with a PS5 always list Horizon Zero Dawn as one of their favorite games. I’ve seen many guys say this in comment threads as well. Which is always ironic to me since I, a female, hated that game. Well, “hated” is a strong word. It just bored me. But it doesn’t matter what I personally think. The game has an insanely high user score rating, does it not? And something like 80-90% of gamers are male, yes? So…how does David Jaffe and the screeching wokists explain that? Oh wait. They can’t.

It's cringe, childish and sassy white girl at best and bad writing(especially from an uncharted alumni among others)I wanted to like this game and as a sony and playstation lover I don't get his comment? I love all 3 of the things he said you hate if you don't buy forspoken and when I played the demo it actually stopped me from buying it and mainly for that dialog(like I don't know if I could take that the whole 15 hrs+), though I have heard you can set the dialog to minimal? She actually curses the cuff out and not even in a funny way. The game looks great and flipping and running around is a blast but the talking alone stopped me smh. To outright call people names just because they have an opinion on something does not justify the truth behind why Forspoken has an overall mixed to negative reception. The game did not fail because of the gender of the protagonist, the demographic, or the exclusivity of the platform on which the game was released on. The game failed due to the reasons of poor performance and optimization when there is a lot happening on screen, and the overly complicated controls when I played the demo, it was more of a challenge to figure out the control layout than it was to fight in the game and that's saying something. There was also the poor choice of dialogue as they could have gone a different direction to make not just the character herself more likable, but a lot of other characters as well as Frye is not the only one. When you compare an RPG like this to Final Fantasy 7 remake, it can still be its own thing, but there are ways to improve the game to make it an overall better experience. And when you have some people just straight up calling others out because of the wrong reasons, not enough focus is being put on what could be improved but now rather what is common to hate in a sense.

The hate for Forespoken is definitely unwarranted and out of hand but I can't agree with Jaffe's reasoning for it. For people to shit on the "cringe" dialogue while playing Xenoblade Chronicles, Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, Kingdom Hearts, Devil May Cry, Tales of and a plethora of other Japanese games is laughable to me. And then I get told "well those games aren't played for the dialogue?" So why is it ok to overlook the dialogue in those games and just play for the overall story and gameplay but Forespoken doesn't get that same treatment? In my opinion Forespoken is a dope game and the gameplay is fun and the dialogue is not even that bad in context.
Square Enix has been on a real big hit or miss as of late. This game doesn't look like it's being rated fairly with a score like 68 but it also doesn't look like it's the game it had the potential to be. Price tag also doesn't help the situation when it looks like it lacks that extra polish we expect from our new games. If you think this game looks decent and want to try then wait for it to go on sale. Looks like a solid sale game to pick up.

Part of the problem is that the game is really demanding on the pc. You have to make sure you power plan is set to high performance.

I just started taking college classes, and it says on the syllabus, that anything underneath a C which is 70, is not passing. So if you don't get a 70 and above you're going to fail, and get no credit.
I liked the main character. Her story was the strongest part of the game.she was likeable. But the gameplay is shit boring repetitive and basic. Would make a great movie adaptation. But as a game its a solid pass from me.
