Here after 4 years before TLOU 2 PC port. Your review score is exactly the same as Metacritic user score. You surely didn't visit the future back then, did you?
I understand your opinion on the pacing, but I think you're overly harsh and I personally loved the game. I loved the story. It's the only one I've ever finished NG+ directly after playing it the first time.
I always laugh when looking back at Abby, a body builder in the apocalypse, lol and it's not the over the top apocalypse like Mad Max, nope, it's the crude and realistic apocalypse like The Road (which Last Us blatantly copied a bunch of stuff, Joel and the nameless father are virtually the same character, same progression, lying at the end and everything). Man or woman, it's illogical and nonsensical to have a body builder in the apocalypse, to achieve this kind of physique you need 14k calories a day, steroids and consistent medical attention (for women this routine is even more hardcore because they can't absorb as much testosterone), the presence of a body builder literally destroys the plot right there, how do you want me to believe on your "realistic" apocalypse when I'm controlling Arnold Schwarzenegger? And that's only the tip of the iceberg, the writing and storytelling only gets worse and more juvenile, gaslighting the player by showing cute dogs, NPCs shouting the name of their "companions", lol the manipulation is so obvious, it's ridiculous. The Road never had a sequel, neither Children of Men… when hacks have no more "inspiration", they have to create for themselves, this is the result
I remember going in complete media blackout when the game leaked so I played the game with no preconceived notions of what other people thought. I’m still so utterly astounded by how people thought the story was bad. It’s easily one of the best stories of the PS4 generation, next to RDR2. Easily a 10/10 game in my book. The first game had better pacing but overall I consider this game to be the superior overall package, disregarding Factions which I never got into. Truly wild.

I'm currently running through the Abbie sections of the game and I totally agree with all of this!!! Such a bad fucking game, how they got this so wrong is beyond me.
I disagree, I like your reviews a lot but this was definitely not executed poorly. I thought the story and gameplay was fantastic. It made me cry, laugh, and scare regularly and I was completely engrossed in the story. I though it was very well done and I would say it’s the best game/story I ever played. Thoroughly enjoyed it
Wow I thought you guys put out quality reviews but to give TLOU2 such a bad score shows a lack of emotional intelligence imo, if after playing the whole game you still hate Abby then you are lacking the ability to empathise with her side of the story.
This game is trash even two years later. If they don’t really crush it with the next title this franchise will be done, mark my words

The gameplay together with the insane polishing of sound, animation and visuals makes it so immersive. It’s one of the few games where walking and crouching the whole time doesn’t feel like a chore.

As a PC gamer with new to PS5, Im here to work out if I should be bothered finishing this game. After 10hrs or so, Im now playing as Abby, and it feels like 'filler' from ND, just to stretch out the story.
The constant flashbacks are literally painful, ruining the pace of the game.
I will say the game is a technical masterpiece – although ND keep wanting to pause the game and draw our attention to the technical achievements.
I loved the Ellie section, loved the improved controls and combat, great weapons, gorgeous graphics in the cityscapes, and you can actually use stealth to avoid confrontation rather than resorting to be a serial killer like in TLOUpt1.
If you do get this game, after the first hour of story setup/woke lecture, you will LOVE the Ellie sections, its good stuff sneaking about in dark buildings with monsters.
And you want that to continue. I would easily prefer to play another 10 hrs as Ellie, but instead it cuts to Abby and it rips you outta the moment and story completely.
I actually like the Abby character, and just read that shes menat to be a trans character. But ingame her character doesnt feel well written or believable as a trans character. To me, she was a typical fragile, hurt teenager. And question: if shes trans, and fancies Owen…was she a boy transitioning to girl then??? But shes obv a girl in the story…Im just more and more confused 🤔by the writing.
And its a pity, if ND had made her more appealing, I coulda got on board with her. But Abby's campaign is just boring asf….and her boyfriend Owen…OMG…that asshole drove me crazy with his simpness.
I also love that ND think a heavily pregnant character would go out on dangerous recon missions too 😂and thats an example of the bad writing.
Think this is the first game iv ever played that has made me quit cos of the story writing – even Dying Light's much cliched story was better! At least it was tolerable…
The writing of TLOU2 is really really really bad. Its not the forced woke crap thats the problem. I coulda played on with that.

The only way I would continue this game is if its on PC with mods that allow you to skip through cutscenes, and skip the Abby chapters.
People keep saying that "Ellie did not get Revenge," well I would like to concur by asking: what's your narrow minded definition of the word revenge? Killing the friends and man that Abby is in love with is indeed Revenge. Revenge is a dead Woman's Game so I guess beating the Abby until she is at the last inch of her life is just the best way to defeat her if you really think about it. The Last of Us 2 is only deemed a great story by the people who are strong enough to stomach it. I for one take it for what it is, A Tragedy nothing more…

You can tell this game had a far left political influence on it, I mean two of the protagonist are females one is a lesbo and the is tomboy with muscles, and plus a child that was confused about his gender and ultimately decided he was male, killing off joel means they attacking masculinity, and promoting this girl power nonsense.
Your review was exceptionally good. Especially your ending statement. I just started playing this and for all the violence Ellie inflicts upon people and dogs she lets Abby go. There is no resolution in terms of story and the cost of violence has no discernible closure. If she had to kill a whole bunch of people to attempt to kill Abby and then let go, all those lives she took were in vain. They broke Ellie’s character and didn’t do her justice and didn’t do justice to those of us who played the game
