Commvault expands HyperScale portfolio with new edge and high-performance options

Data protection provider Commvault Systems Inc. today announced two new additions to its HyperScale portfolio: HyperScale Edge and HyperScale Flex.

The new offerings are designed to strengthen cyber resilience and data protection for enterprises at a time when the amounts of data are increasing from remote offices and edge locations.

According to the 2024 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, breaches from the exploitation of edge devices and virtual private networks surged to 22% of all breaches last year, an eightfold increase from the previous year. The new releases are aimed at helping customers address this challenge and improve their resilience.

HyperScale Edge is aimed at remote sites, branch offices and small to medium businesses where information technology resources and space are limited. The offering is delivered as a software image deployable on validated hardware from Dell Technologies Inc., Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. and Lenovo Group Ltd. and provides localized protection and recovery while maintaining resilience against ransomware threats.

The second new offering, HyperScale Flex, is built for large-scale, high-performance environments such as technology, telecom and healthcare organizations. The offering supports massive data sets and artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads through integration with external flash storage pools from vendors including Pure Storage Inc., VAST Data Inc. and soon HPE.

The flexible architecture offered by HyperScale Flex enables multipetabyte capacity and low-latency backup and recovery, addressing the needs of data-intensive applications.

HyperScale Edge is generally available today and is available via a subscription model with pricing per node per month or as a perpetual license plus support costs. HyperScale Flex is available now for early adopter customers, which can contact Commvault Sales to request access to the EA program.
