I was really torn between this and Mycelia, which is another mushroom themed game and after watching this review I'm happy that I picked up Mycelia. That is a game worth checking out if you can find it!
Tom Vasel played the protoype playthrough November 2023 and rated it Aug 2024 5/10.
I would think the short turns would at least keep the game moving quickly, with almost no waiting for your turn to come around?
Yeah, this was pretty spot on. It’s a good game but it just lacks something, and it suffers in comparison to other recent nature themed euros, like Earth and Ark Nova. It feels to me like it needs an extra mechanism or something. Maybe two. And the theme, while interesting, isn’t as charming or engaging as, say, Wingspan. The relative lack of variety and depth means I suspect I’ll be selling it after a couple more plays.
Please don't moisten your finger Luke! 😂
Nice review. I was one of those backers — because I love, love mushrooms. In fact, I now have 4 Mushroom games, but still not played. You are right — nobody talks about this one now. I have to get it to the table. Thanks for the review, Luke.
I felt very similarly after my one play. Very good looking but not exciting to play. Thanks for the good review.
Listened to your podcast on anticipated games of 2025 – one of mine is a reprint (in a decent sized boxed this time) of a KS that never got a broad retail release. Dogs of War by Paolo Mori.
I got the deluxe version as a gift because I like mushrooms. The game itself was a bit of a letdown. I liked the artwork, but the gameplay was not that exciting.
"Arc Nova… from the earlier years"… Are we there already?👨🦳
agree with the criticism that turns dont feel satisfying, even when youve managed to accumulate some resources
Is there a big difference with Mycelia?
Badger badger mushroom?
It's an older meme, sir. But it checks out.
