Humanoid robotics developer UBTECH Robotics Corp. has reportedly secured a credit line of up to $1 billion from Infini Capital to expand production and marketing. The companies plan to establish a joint venture to build a “superfactory,” a research and development center, and regional headquarters in the Middle East.
UBTECH said its partnership with Infini Capital will help it maintain leadership in robotics development, accelerate commercialization, and increase market share and profitability.
The global humanoid robot market could reach nearly $1 billion by 2050, with China currently leading in development, according to Morgan Stanley.
UBTECH expands in manufacturing
Founded in 2012, UBTECH Robotics has been developing low-cost humanoid robots for education, customer service, healthcare, logistics, and manufacturing.
The Shenzhen, China-based company claimed that its Walker S series is involved in the highest number of factory training programs worldwide. Its partners include BYD, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, Geely Auto, Zeekr, FAW-Volkswagen Qingdao Branch, Audi FAW, BAIC New Energy, SF Express, and Foxconn.
In July, UBTECH won a $12.6 million contract from Shanghai-based Miyi Automotive Technology Co. that it asserted is the largest current procurement order for humanoids.
Infini Capital takes a stake
Infini Capital said its High-Tech Fund will provide UBTECH with rapid financing options including participating in a stock placement, subscribing to convertible bonds, and granting cash-withdrawal rights. It is also increasing its holdings of UBTECH shares to a 5% equity stake.
UBTECH had previously planned to raise $307 million in a Hong Kong stock offering, reported the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
“For the first half of 2025, UBTECH posted a revenue increase of 27.5% to 621 million yuan ($87.1 million U.S.), while its losses narrowed to 414 million yuan from 516 million yuan a year earlier,” wrote the SCMP. UBTECH’s growing list of competitors includes Unitree Robotics and Boston Dynamics.
With headquarters in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong, Infini Capital said it has invested more than HK$10 billion ($1.2 billion U.S.) in emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, humanoid robots, and smart manufacturing.
“This collaboration signals international capital’s long-term optimism about China’s humanoid robotics industry,” stated the investment firm. “As the ‘first humanoid robot company to go public,’ UBTECH continues to promote the practical application of humanoid robots and has achieved global leadership.”
Learn about humanoids at RoboBusiness
This year’s RoboBusiness, which will be on Oct. 15 and 16 in Santa Clara, Calif., will include sessions focused on humanoid robot development and deployment, including a keynote panel on “Lessons Learned from First Humanoid Deployments.” Speakers will include Katlyn Lewicke, head of global automation strategy and intel at GXO Logistics, and Jim Fan, director of AI and a distinguished scientist at NVIDIA.
The humanoid track at RoboBusiness will also include sessions on:
- “Humanoids for Real Applications: Mastering Safety and Performance,” with Nikolai Ensslen, CEO of Synapticon
- “Advancements in Humanoid Actuation,” with Jordan Schaeffler, strategic business development engineer at Novanta
- “Integrating Behavioral Science into Humanoid Design,” with Ram Devarajulu, vice president and head of robotics for North America at Cambridge Consultants
RoboBusiness, the premiere event for developers and suppliers of commercial robots, will also have tracks on physical AI, enabling technologies, and design and development best practices. It will feature more than 60 speakers, a startup workshop, the annual Pitchfire competition, and numerous networking opportunities.
Over 100 exhibitors on the show floor will showcase their latest enabling technologies, products, and services. The event is produced by WTWH Media, which also produces The Robot Report, Automated Warehouse, and the Robotics Summit & Expo.
Registration is now open for RoboBusiness 2025.
