Audio Pro revamps speaker line-up with WiiM powered app

A more harmonised appearance

Audio Pro claim that they’ve changed the design but a glance at the ‘new’ speakers suggests that the changes are more minor key than major key.

And Audio Pro concedes that the changes aren’t too radical from what came before, but what they’ve strived to do is bring consistency across the range to create a “cohesive, premium look”.

The colours are harmonised across the range with a choice of grey, white and black – disappointingly the bright colours of before appear to have been consigned to history. Although, some select models will be available in a new walnut finish.

The logo placement is more consistent, the grille fabrics syncrhonised across all models that have them and enhanced logo badges for a stronger visual identity.

Out with the old, in with the new

The biggest change is the integration of the WiiM app.

The old app is, in our minds, a rather tired one that needed a visual refresh years ago.

The W-generation of Audio Pro speakers will now offer advanced EQ and room correction tools; expanded streaming service support that includes the likes of Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, iHeartRadio, TuneIn and others. Wi-Fi timing syncrhonisation will be smarter, while multi-room and grouping of speakers has been enhanced.

The experience should be more streamlined than before, and given we’ve used the interface on WiiM’s music streamers and enjoyed the simplicity and functionality they offer, we expect a similar level of performance with the new speakers.

And don’t worry, all W-generation speakers will be backward compatible with Audio Pro’s current products, ensuring you won’t have to buy a whole new set of speakers.

Sound Performance

Audio Pro describes the audio quality of its latest speakers as one that’s been redefined to be more “modern, dynamic and finely tuned” to satisfy anyone after hi-fi sound from an all-in-one speaker.

The emphasis with these new speakers has been to dig up greater clarity, reduce distortion and boost loudness for a sound profile that’s “immersive, powerful and musical”.

The flagship A48 W is said to a 10/15dB increase in max sound pressed, along with improved clarity from its BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) tweeter clarity. The A15 W’s sound has been redesigned to boast deeper, more rounded bass with battery extended beyond its previous figures.

So while the speakers may look the same, it looks as if beneath the surface there’s a lot that’s been retooled. We hope to have a listen to these speakers at some point in the future.
