Title: Return of the classic lineup.
Review: Walk on Water is the 3rd (and last) album with the line up of singer Phil Mogg, lead guitarist Michael Schencker, bassist Pete Way, keyboard/guitarist Paul Raymond, and drummer Andy Parker. It also was the 1st of 3 albums with the erratic, but talented guitar god M. Schenker in the mid 90s to early 2000s.It had been a span of around 16-17 years since this lineup last recorded a UFO album together. Walk on Water is heavier than Lights Out, more more melodic than Obsession. It was has an element of grunge on here. Some may not know that grunge kings Pearl Jam are big UFO fans, had members who played in UFO tribute bands, and played UFO covers in concert. All the original 8 songs are excellent with Venus, Darker Days, and Dreaming of Summer being the best. I had different opinions on the two remakes of classic UFO songs. Doctor, Doctor was totally redone and had too much hammond organ for my taste. Lights Out was better, though not as good as the original. There are 3 extra tracks from UFO spinter bands. The first song is Fortune Town from Mogg/Way. It really a UFO song, but Mogg and Way couldn’t call the band UFO due to a legal dispute with Schencker about the name UFO. Great song. The 2nd is I will be there by the Michael Schencker Group (MSG). Very beautiful and melodic song. Not in the metal style many associate with MSG. The 3rd track was Public Enemy #1 by the Paul Raymond Group. This song tells me why I never heard of the Paul Raymond Group before, it does nothing for me.

Title: What a Comeback!
Review: Love classic UFO lineup and this album is great. Have wanted this for some time, but was out of print. Great writing, music, cd cover & lyrics and liner notes. Interviews with each member about the album and their upcoming Japan tour (at the time) was a nice touch. Have already bought another copy for a friend. Get this while you can!

Title: Now this is more like it
Review: It’s unfair to compare this album with “Lights Out” and “Obsession”: it’s actually better than those two overrated albums. Where those two had one album’s worth of good songs between them (one of which was a note-for-note cover) and many bad ideas, this one is solid from start to finish. Like all great UFO albums, it takes a while to sink in. Never particulaly innovative, UFO’s strength always lay in rewiring cliched-sounding riffs and phrases into something fresh and original. That’s why their songs often sound so-so at first, but start to catch your ear after a few listenings. First, you notice the best songs, which here are “Self-Made Man”, “Venus”, and “Darker Days”. Then, as you listen, you start to hear how brilliant the guitar leads really are, and some of what you thought were lesser cuts begin to stand out. There’s not a dog on this disc, and it’s long enough that you can consider the remakes as bonus tracks. The songs still aren’t quite as good as on UFO’s very best albums, but they’re consistent. And with a band as good as this, consistent is all you need. In fact, I’d rate this as UFO’s third best studio album. (“Force It” and “No Place”, since you asked).

Title: Stunned by this album!
Review: I’ve NEVER heard a reunion album as good as this one. Upon first listen, I was immediately smitten, and I’m forced to admit that it ranks right up there with their very best stuff. In fact, at times I believe THIS album is my favorite by UFO. Tight performance, ultra-clean, razor-sharp recording, and best of all, every single song is top-notch. This Eagle Records import release not only includes the newer versions of “Doctor, Doctor” and “Lights Out” that every version of “Walk On Water” contained (which are phenomenal updated recordings), but ALSO includes three ADDITIONAL bonus tracks: “Fortune Town” by Mogg and Way, “I Will Be There” by the Michael Schenker Group, and “Public Enemy #1” by the Paul Raymond Project. All three of those bonus tracks fit right in here and round out this album nicely. This is the definitive version of this now-classic album. If you like rock, you absolutely cannot go wrong by picking this CD up. I’m overjoyed to own it. This band is in top form here. They’ve outdone themselves.

Title: Walk on Water is GREAT!
Review: This disc is right up there with “Obsession” and “Lights Out”. Was truly shocked the first time I put it in my player, it rocked! An excellent blend of hard rock with melody; this is what UFO did successfully in the 70’s and this disc sounds as if it was done right after “Strangers in the Night”, without sounding dated. Phil Mogg’s vocals and Schenker’s playing are such a perfect match, too bad that mix isn’t heard more often.Had this disc been promoted properly, there could have been at least 3 singles released- “Venus”, “A Self Made Man” and “Darker Days”. There are really no filler tracks which once again takes me back to the 1975-79 “classic era” of UFO!BUY THIS DISC!!! and while you are shopping get Phil Mogg’s side project $ighn of Four- different than UFO, but still has that cool Mogg sound and is more blues-based (guitarist Jeff Kollman is really good).

Review: This CD was, in my opinion one of the band’s excellent later albums, so when it was released I had to have it. Along with the recent release of “High stakes and dangerous men”, another of the band’s later output ( also excellent). The whole album is excellent, my favourite tracks are ” A self made man, pushed to the limit & knock knock” The sound is excellent, the running time is just over 50 minutes, including re works of “Doctor Doctor & lights out”. I notice that the band are also re releasing another “later album” late July, The excellent “Monkey Puzzle”. Can’t wait.
