Sony’s IMX09E 200MP main camera sensor specs leak, here’s the first phone to get it

Back in March we first heard that Sony was busy working on its first ever 200MP sensor for smartphone cameras, one meant for the main camera and one that could actually make its way to Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra, as per another rumor.

Today the upcoming sensor’s specs have been detailed in China by prolific leaker Digital Chat Station. Will this be the next big thing in smartphone photography? Only time will tell, but it sure does look promising on paper.

It’s said to bear the model number IMX09E, being positioned above the Lytia LYT-900 in Sony’s portfolio. It’s a 1/1.12″ type sensor with 0.7μm native pixel size, built on a 22nm process. It supports Hybrid Frame HDR, 100dB+ ultra-high dynamic range, greatly improved photosensitivity (though not clear compared to what), as well as 2x and 4x full-pixel fusion ‘lossless’ zoom.

It will be featured in the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, and may or may not also make its way into the vivo X300 Ultra, according to rumors on Weibo. Unfortunately, Xiaomi is said not to adopt this sensor for its 16 Ultra.
