Brightpick to share insights on the rise of mobile manipulation at RoboBusiness

While humanoids have been dominating headlines and bringing in massive funding rounds, another kind of technology has been quietly growing: mobile manipulators. At RoboBusiness 2025, which takes place Oct. 15 and16 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, attendees can learn how mobile manipulators can achieve tasks beyond human capability without the limits of a humanoid form. Jan Zizka, the CEO and co-founder at Brightpick, will lead a session on “The Rise of Mobile Manipulation” at 1:30 p.m. PT on the first day of the show. He will examine the latest advancements in mobile manipulation, with a heightened focus on Brightpick’s Autopicker 2.0 and its use of AI.

Zizka will also explore real-world deployments and show how companies are leveraging these technologies to boost efficiency and scale operations. He aims to offer a clear look at how mobile manipulators are reshaping the robotics landscape today.

Dr. Zizka is co-founder and CEO and co-founder of Erlanger, Ky.-based Brightpick. A technology visionary, he has Brightpick’s strategy and is closely involved in developing new robotics and AI technologies.

Zizka has filed more than 20 patents, ranging from 3D sensing methods to mobile robotics, and is a recognized expert in the fields of AI, machine vision, and warehouse automation. Autopicker earned Brightpick a 2024 RBR50 Application of the Year award.

Before co-founding Brightpick, Zizka co-founded and led Photoneo. That company is now a global leader in 3D machine vision, with customers such as General Motors, Volkswagen, and KUKA. Zizka earned a Ph.D. in computer vision from Comenius University. He also did research on computational cameras and optics at MIT.
