Title: So many charge formats! Glad to have this adapter
Review: So I headed to inlaws without worry because the grocery store had a supercharger in the parking lot near their house. I get there and it’s a Level3 CCS1 so the “normal” J1772 to NACS adapter that came with my Tesla won’t fit! Arg! I found another charger 20 miles away and just went there. As soon as I got home I ordered this L3 to NACS adapter and it now lives in the little cubby under the trunk of my Model3 so I won’t be caught unable to charge again. The Tesla (NACS) charger is gaining popularity so other manufacturers are moving to it (supposedly). This is in large part because of the proliferation of Tesla chargers all over the nation. But it’s not completely universal yet.So if you’re looking to buy a tesla it comes with an adapter for non-tesla Level 2 chargers to Tesla. I recommend getting the mobile charger (it’s L1 and L2 depending on the plug you use) and I recommend getting one of these adapters. Additionally, the Tesla mobile charger connects to a NEMA 14-50 outlet for L2 charging. I also purchased a NEMA 10-30 (old dryer outlet) to NEMA 14-50 adapter from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FDGK2SHP?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1) and I happen to know half of my extended family has welder plugs so I also purchased a NEMA 6-50 to 14-50 adapter here on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CP6QMWL7?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_5). This adapter is the last one I need. Now, no matter where I go I have the ability to charge from any standard format fast charger and I have the ability to charge my mobile L2 charger from any dryer outlet, welder outlet or EV outlet. If you want to eliminate range anxiety then you can do that with a couple twenty dollar adapters for your mobile charger and this for the CCS1 L3 fast charger. It’ll be so much nicer when the other formats die off and they all switch to the North American Charge Standard (NACS) plug. But for now, I’m free to roam!
