Great work! Love the long form. A ratchet and clank/jak amd daxter retro would be so nostalgic!
you dont have to summon him for that fight he lives if you leave him out 3:14:00
Holy fuck! 5 hours? Best I get started then…
War in the north is one of the most enjoyable local coop experiences ive had. My son really enjoyed the story, we were both really invested in the Belaram arc. He's a great character
Who told this dude War in the North is not available for pc???
Why is it chilling in my steam library for years now
I’ve recently found your channel thru the youtube recommendations and I’m forever grateful. These videos are great! They accompany me during work hours at night, and even during the day when I’m just idle. Some of the games you’ve covered, I haven’t really played nor have access to, but I’ve enjoyed them all the same through your work, so thanks! Also, the reason I’m commenting is just now is because I’ve damn neared cried because of Beleram. 😂
The Third Age was the best LOTR game ever made! Followed closely by Mordor series.
did you know that viggo mortensen actually broke his toe in that scene? I'M SURE YOU DIDN'T HAHA
Battle for Middle Earth II (and the Witch King follow up or expansion, can't remember) was one of my favorite games
Man you didn’t even talk about one of the coolest parts of the 3rd age. The bad guy mode where you get to play each key encounter as the bad guts and bosses. It’s a blast and gives you great gear.
Thanks God you not covering phone games and lotr online here, hopefully normal people don’t care about those specific ones
The shadow of games have left a desire to see arkham combat in a more mainline yet lore expansive story lotr game, of course without the nemesis system, but maybe something better to replace it, an honorable charecter with upright morals, a sort of antithesis to talion, not perfect by any means but more of a hero, maybe something like aragorn
Holy shit this was 2 years ago.
Dude, you're a legend. I loved your Castlevania and Metroid videos. Middle-Earth is my favourite fictional universe, I look forward to watching this! (One does not simply watch one of your videos in one sitting).
Before I start this, I’m trying to decide the odds on Gimli’s axe appearing in Fellowship GBA. Hopefully homie has enough plot armor that he won’t have to run the whole thing back
On your recommendation, I played War in the North and I really enjoyed it. It was a welcome expansion on the story, worldbuilding, and characters. Like you said, it was a charming fusion of book and movie. And Beleram lived in my playthrough, which made it even better. Thanks for the recommendation.
actually beleram doesn't have to die in the final mission, you just need not to summon him
While I enjoyed the entire retrospective, I don't understand the criticism that Celebrimbor's true motivations and betrayal weren't well telegraphed.
Throughout the whole game, you can feel the tension rising between Celebrimbor and Talion as their goals and attitude start to shift apart, and it's, quite honestly, the only good part of this game's story, aside from the Ratbag and Brûz subplot. Celebrimbor has been dead set through the entire game in his conquest with little care given to anything else with quite a callous nature to the lives of innocents like the gondorians, to the point where he only takes Talion's side to obviously placate the Ranger as he needs him as a vessel. Celebrimbor's argument with Talion when it's revealed that he agreed with Sauron's ideal of a lasting peace through domination is one of my favorite scenes in a video game for just how visceral the back and forth between the two characters is and it obviously telegraphs Celebrimbor's goal of being the Bright Lord and bringing peace to Middle Earth by force. I honestly wish they leaned more into this aspect of the story instead of all the b plots that we end up doing with the gondorians and Carnán.
This was absolutely incredible. I’m a huge Tolkien fan and gamer, and this was a fantastic history and deep dive into my favorite topic. Thank you so much for all your hard work into this one, you’ve gained a dedicated subscriber, and friend.
War in the North was genuinely incredible. I think the characters fell a bit flat, but the gameplay, RPG elements, loot (that got so diverse and increasingly good in successive playthroughs!) and plot were all excellent. Such a shame that most people never even heard of it.
You either bow to no one, or see yourself making Hollywood movie reviews
Been enjoying binging these deep dives. Great work!
