This is games is it just not good
My friend…Your criticisms are so well written and passionate. I have done nothing but watching your videos all day about the GoW Saga and Assassin's Creed. The work you put into your videos really shows. And I I hope you are rewarded for it!
❤
What do you all say to the criticism? I loved this game at first but then the more I played it the more I disliked it and disagree with some points of this video. I feel this video looks at this game with rose colored glasses which makes sense since there’s barely any gore/blood for a game that’s known for it. Also one of my criticisms for the gow 2018
The best critique of a game i have ever seen. Congragulations for the work you have put on 🔥
I can’t believe that this game manages to make God of War 4 feel like an extended intro…considering that God of War 4 is one of the best video games ever made. It’s such an impressive duology that I’m actually grateful we didn’t get a third entry because they managed to tell…not just a cohesive, but one of the best video game stories in its completeness with these games
37:15 Lmao Atreus just 🧍
GOW Ragnarok is the greatest sequel to the 2nd greatest sequel
To be fair, the emotional beats and the growth of kratos are not felt as well if you didn't play the Greek saga. To understand who kratos has become you have to see who he was.
GOD OF WAR R is so trash
This game is such a masterpiece its hard to even describe, kratos has become my favorite ever character
A masterpiece.. okay.
This was the first game I ever wanted to platinum. That’s how good it was. I spent my entire Christmas break playing this game. I ended the game with Brok’s funeral and it made me sob. I was able to hold back my tears the whole time up until the funeral. This game truly is a masterpiece and I think it’ll always be my favorite
I've seen a lot of folks complain about the AI holding their hands, but there IS a setting for that in the options. I had it set lower to give me time to play around. Hopefully next time they'll make that setting a little bit more obvious so folks can adjust it or turn it off entirely.
when elden ring won game of the year i flip my desk
❤❤❤
Goty 2018 still rigged tho
God of war 2018 was not a reboot, more of a soft reboot just in changing the combat system
You call that copy and past crap a masterpiece I played part of the game and found it boring I had to sell it won't get burned again
If u say so, this game disappointed the fuck outta me… glad you and many more were able to enjoy it tho
I cried during this game but I think I genuinely felt so much joy seeing Cory Barlog break down. Kratos' arc in that first game is as much Cory Barlog's trying to show the world he is more than just an arcade designer, he is a master storyteller. I am in vicarious pride of seeing an artist finally be recognized for thier work when so much goes unnoticed. Ragnarok is not about proving anything but just showing off. Cory was able to not just do it once, but twice. He is a master and this game was just showing off his brillance.
Next up son of war
Only thing I didn’t love was the end. Ragnarok itself felt rushed and easy and the fight with Odin was very easy. Still an absolutely great game tho.
Go to Niflheim after you beat the game and you can go to a prison I just found it last night after I beat it ! Goin check it out today 🔥🔥
I LOVE GOD OF WAR SOOOOOO MUCH
I know am watching a spoiler a lot… but sill can't wait for it go port into PC and try it myself!
only god know…no, only sony know how long i have to wait.
As a From Software fan (much more than GoW's fan), and having platinum on both games (ER and GoW Rag), IMO it's outrageous ER won GoTY. Absurd!
They're not even comparable. ER is a great game, but a flawed, much flawed one. To name a few issues: terrible graphics on any platform, horrible performance on launch, poor storytelling, overused assets and dungeon designs (catacombs are pretty much the same the entire game), feeble animations and outdated side quest design (the all world refreshing thing is sooooo 2013ish). Oh, gameplay was 20/10 and replayability 10/10. And thats it.
GoW Rag is – like you said – pretty much flawless.
Boring kids game with too many cut scenes
GoW Ragnarök is the first example I've seen of a video game with a masterpiece of a story, where people complain about it having too much story and ask for more mindless, meaningless slaughter instead. It sounds like a pretty pathetic argument to me. Especially in this day and age of withdrawl from well crafted story telling in the last 10 years or so, but in the end it comes down to personal preference I assume.
I just ask myself, if the people who complain that GoW "4" and "5" are not enough mindless hack and slay are the same people, that Game of Thrones added so many sex scenes for, to keep them invested while characters explain lore?
Making a game called elden ring
Personally I find GOW 2018 to be an abomination of the highest order, and just like Odyssey & Valhalla arent real Assassin's Creed games; I dont consider GOW 2018/ Ragnarok to be authentic GOW installments. But sadly the franchise was hijacked by Sarkeesian and her witches.
Fun fact: the sentient sword ingrid is actually a weapon from Norse mythology. At the end of the game, it shows how the blade returns to Frey, which makes me believe that ingrid is Sumarbrandr (sword of summer for you Magnus chase readers), Frey’s weapon from Norse myth.
In memory of brok, he will be missed
How to top a masterpiece
Odin: AUUUUGHHH
I don't know if you'll read this but: Lovely, lovely video man!
I just finished the game (still doing some endgame stuff, gotta find those ravens!). There is no such thing as perfection (while still good, the pacing is a little up and down near the end of the game) in video games but this came as close as you can get for me.
While I liked the original GOW, I loved the 2018 GOW. It's story and character development resonated more with me. GOWR improved on a lot of things from its predecessor. As you mentioned, the added enemy variety is very nice. The new Draupnir Spear is lovely addition and the finishing animations make the combat a better experience imo. I didn't expect it but having Freya as a companion was amazing!
And oh my god, the voice acting is stellar. As is the writing. I get the people saying that it has shades of MCU speak but honestly it didn't bother me at all.
Also, the music is just 'chef's kiss' good!
The conclusion to this wonderful story had me in tears, which doesn't happen often. Loki will go, but Atreus remains 🙂
A truly fitting ending to what I would call a masterpiece.
Another cool hint of the Tyr twist is the Y in his name didn’t have the accent on top of it, it was spelled “Tyr” instead “Tÿr”
GOW is a True masterpiece👍
This and ghost of tsushima are my all time favorite games ever. This probably beats ghost of tsushima to be honest.
What I have to say about Ragnrok is that it's a flawed masterpiece, The story is great (masterfully done) but some things could've stayed in the oven. I do see how some would call out some things as flaws in the game but that's the point though, like how things set up from 2018 was paid off in Ragnarok, just not in the way we thought and that's what made me love Ragnarok. Flawed? Yes, but every masterfully done story has flaws. Whether you like the game or not, don't ever say that SMS never poured their hearts out.
The term masterpiece is over used. It a good game, not a masterpiece. Maybe a masterpiece of art, but this game won't have the longevity of the other games where u want to experience this 10 or 15yrs from now because the execution of ragnarok was not masterful. Maybe a sequel will give us the payoff tht didn't happen
I agree with everything you said in this video. But you have no business talking about GOW having not played the first 3 games. Like you literally don't know. There was so much you missed and didn't understand because you didn't play those games.
What an excellent review bro well done 👏 👏👏
balderz fight was better. makes balder seem stronger than thor. plus he doesnt depend on weapons like thor
Seing Sindry go from the craven, afraid of touching things-cleaning maniac dwarf to not giving a single fuck about anyone and everything anymore is great imo. I mean the dude was wearing his gloves everywhere and wanted to not get dirty but after Brok's death he doesn't wear gloves anymore (and keeps touching shit but doesn't care) and kills motherfucking ODIN of all people! What a change for his character
Before this game rdr2 was my favourite game but ragnarok has overtaken it for me and 2018 gowr is up there too
9:57 a little bit disappointed that you decided not to quote Master Oogway's phrase "one meets his destiny on the path they take to avoid it" but, otherwise, a great video))
Bye, see you in about a year then
