No game plus is Lame choice for the game maker 🤯
Easily the lamest attempt at a souls like I've ever tried. Fuck this game
They shoulda did voice acting is my biggest complain… Boss fights where they "talk" during combat with subtitles being east to miss is annoying and lame af IMO.
I love that indie studios are creating such great games! I earnestly believe that an indie studio can someday create a soulsborne to rival bloodborne
Loved the game. Great experience. Still just One Trophy for Platinum. YOU.SHALL.NOT.PASS. Frustrating.

Good enough for me, mate! -$18.74!
Great game
15 bucks at the xbox store at the moment, gonna try it out, thanks for the review
this suppose be a good game ?? the graphic is beautiful but its so hard you well get kill hundred of time ,is there a way to make it easy a little bit to play ?? I almost going to give up this game .
I was disappointed
looks more like ninja gaiden than bloodborne from a gameplay perspective
Another soul's like ? You are shutting me ? 🤦🏻♂️
7.8? Not a bad score at all. But I must say I'm offended team Fextra gave this under an 8 when that other souls like from spider dev team who made greed fall gets an 8.3 and it looks less… well. Good. I'm a bit skeptical on Fex now.
Can I turn my brain off and just go to parry town and play this game like Sekiro? Yes or no?
Tbh the only thing thymesia has in common with bloodborne is the theme and plague and shit it's more akin to sekiro in teh fact that parrying is more useful and also somewhat required in fights. (I know you can make it through teh game without parrying but you gotta admit you like taking of 1/5th of teh bosses health with just a few parries) Some of the moves and animation look similar to sekiro like the mikiri counter and the plague weapons mainly the axe halberd and hammer (let me know if there's more plague weapons that resemble sekiro animations)
I finished the game not that long ago and I believe this is a good bang for the bucks. Gameplay wise the game really slaps which is impressive considering this is their first game. As a Sekiro enjoyer, the parry feels pretty satisfying although very punishing if you miss. Difficulty wise, it's only as difficult as you make it for yourself… Meaning there are lots of option to make the game feel easier or harder. The lore is interesting but I'm not a big fan of reading through everything since there isn't any VA.
Overall I think it's a good spending and I cant wait to see what comes next from that team!
How are boss runbacks?
Looks a really cool game but the words "Souls like" makes it a no buy
Stop comparing this to bloodborne it's not Bloodborne. This game is awesome it deserves to be called its own name
I played it – its good. It has a nice parry system which is fun. I wish they had a bigger budget because its short and has only one skin/armor. 8.5/10
It’s nothing remotely like bloodborne 🤦♂️
Picked this up over the weekend and have been enjoying myself. The combat is tight, closer to Sekiro in execution than Bloodborne, with some obvious influences from Demon's Souls map design. Visuals are fine for its price point. The lack of voice is noticeable, but that's one of those areas where it's better not to have it than do it wrong. All-in-all it's one of the better attempts at a Souls-inspired action RPG and I'll certainly be finishing it this week.
I saw the trailer got bloodborne vibes was getting hyped but went back down when I saw it’s just on the new platform…
The skill trees are what really sold it for me!! The different builds you can try are super awesome! Some of them completely change the way you play. This game even has a Mikiri counter! Lol love it!
The combat is surprisingly awesome!!! I love how sekiro like it is… super fast paced & always engaging. Yes it’s repetitive but as long as the combat is fun I don’t care!
Hm, I'm surprised at how vehement the Fromsoft purist faction in the comment section is. There are so many people bashing the game while clearing having not played it. I find all the generic "trash Bloodborne wannabe" type comments especially funny because anyone who's actually played the game will know that the combat is much more Sekiro inspired than Bloodborne.
At anyrate, having gone through most of the game I might as well leave my two cents. Contrary to popular opinion, I'm actually rather pleased with the tweaks to the combat system they made. The Wounds vs Health system could have been extremely clunky and tedious, but I found it was actually engaging to balance between attacks that dealt Wounds vs Attacks that dealt Health Damage.
My biggest praise has to go with the dynamic talent system which allows for meaningful adjustments to your combat style, allowing you to customize your character for either your own preference or to suit the situation. It feels like it was inspired by Sekiro's Shinobi arts, but being able to freely adjust your talent tree and the existence of mutually exclusive branching paths has great flexibility. One criticism I see sometimes leveled at Sekiro was that there was only one optimal way to play, learn to parry or die. In Thymesia, mastering the parry is a strong and effective way to play, but you have alternative options, and even options to lean into parry! You can choose to reduce your parry/deflect frames to gain stronger counter attack damage. Alternatively you can exchange your deflect for a more standard block that takes chip damage. If you don't want to mess with blocking, you can upgrade your dash to have extended range or a double dash and beat the content using evasion only. There are talents that synergize with different styles that you can combine to fit you. If you take the defense stance over the deflection, it might be a good idea to pair that with a talent that lets you regain energy when you take damage. Then you can use a Plague Weapon that turns that Energy into HP to become a powerful defensive tank.
Being able to change your talents at any resting point means you can adjust your play style at any time, and even experiment from boss to boss. With a slow but powerful boss you might want to doge and hit them with a powerful Plauge Weapon. With a faster boss you might try taking a more defensive options etc etc. In Soulsgames, your stats often lock you into playstyles, and while you can reset it is still a process. For example, if your build in Elden ring is a heavy weapons dual wield build that focuses on jump attacks, you'll pretty much be stuck jump attacking your way through the whole game. There will be little to no variety in your playthrough.
That being said, the game isn't perfect. The overworld enemies lack variety. They are pretty much all humanoid type enemies, and can be knocked down with the Greatsword Plauge weapon. This makes the Greatsword extremely effective at taking down all small-fry enemies without much worry of counter attack. Once I found it, I rarely used other Plague Weapons in the overworld.
I'm not a big fan of exploration, so the lack of a map was annoying to me. The maps are pretty linear, which was a plus in my book. I suppose being forced to remember does fit in with the theme of the game, so I'm not going to complain too much.
Overall, it is a short but highly polished game with solid mechanics. There are no micro transactions or bloated time wasting mechanics. The game progression is well crafted to fit the short play time. The mechanics are borrowed from the Souls games, but solid innovations have been made to make it a unique and fun experience. This is the kind of game we should be encouraging game devs to make. It disappoints me that a solid game is getting a bad rap by elitists and people who haven't played the game while predatory companies are making millions off of brain dead lootboxes and gacha games.
Thymesia is not a soul's borne game. It's a soul's like.
After watching your review I am buying for my switch,at £19.99 I feel this is too good to miss.
Thymesia feels like a blend of bloodborne sekiro and a little bit of God of war
I have a problem with the green bar, how do I get rid of it quickly
why would stayin moist be doing us all a favor? sounds like quite the opposite if anything
10 hours of gameplay with no equippable or upgradable armor for an rpg!? Bloodborne teabags this tryhard.
I played for about an hour so far and I am enjoying the game for the most part. The combat feels more Sekiro-like to me, which means I have died a bit already. I do intend on playing the game until I get the platinum trophy.
I already feel bad for this game. It seems to be getting a lot of salt from the FromSoft community in the comment section. Can't say I'm surprised because any fan base that views the company they like is flawless will only see the worst in a game that's similar to those made by that company, but I think a lot of people are forgetting this is a little indie team and not some huge AAA game. Some of the best games I've played have been indie games, and I think this one deserves a fair shake. It's definitely going to get a buy from me.
This gives me Devil May Cry and Bloodborne vibes and that is certainly not a complaint since those are two of my favored games! I have to check this out!
You cannot play as a female character no thanks
thX 4 Review!
Been waiting for this game to drop for a long long time. Got it DLing now. Can't wait to finally get to play it
quick question, what's wrong with the narrator's (man's) voice?
Question for those who have bought the game, does the gameplay still feels a bit off like the demo? I really want to support this developer but the demo had this (DS2 at launch feel). Some of the things were not working as intended… Please advise!
This game rocks
From this video, combat is awful. It's just exaggerated weapon armor and movements, but the hit boxes are terrible.
Surprised to see gameranx covered this also. Does overboard have a good pr department?
Best review I’ve seen
Looks really good. But I've just bought nioh 2 so pretty sure I'll be spending a shitload of time on that as I hear its really long. This will be on the list for after it though 👌
I heard thisd game was janky based on the demo last year… is all of that gone now, please?
Shit game
