This game is very linear as only Sebastian’s quest has consequences, it lacks detailed player builds, and you spend way too much time outside of Hogwarts in random hamlets fighting the same goblins or dark wizards
This game is all style and no substance. The world looks amazing, but the gameplay and progression is soooo boring.
One thing about this game is your constantly learning something new
Hopefully this game gets a sequel which addresses a lot of the issues you mentioned as I was really hoping they would go all in on the whole RPG immersion aspects which a lot of modern rpgs seem to lacking in for some reason
Bro said the fact that you can't go to school in a video game is a bad thing lol
I was debating getting this game but probably won't as single player games seem to not work well with me I get board very quick and have very little time
very fair review, i’m a massive hp fan and this was an 8/10 for me. just wasn’t expecting catching pokémon to be a big part of the core gameplay loop.
Pros
1) Art Direction
2) Music
3) Graphics
4) Combat
5) Side quests
6) Travelling options and flying/exploring
7) Outfits customization
Cons
1) Main story is kinda weak
2) Bosses
3) Repetitive gameplay after a while
4) Enemy variety
5) Pots brewing isn't done right by being time limited like a mobile game
6) Too many fetch quests
7) Puzzles are hit or miss
8) No Quidditch
9) No multiplayer
Overall Score 7/10
I have to disagree, I feel like this game is absolutely timeless. I have played thousands of games and many open world RPGs but I've never played a game that has me feeling so surprised through every second of gameplay weather it be the combat or flying through the world on broomstick, it all flows so naturally and organically. Im not even a harry Potter fan and after playing the game in still not a big fan of the universe yet it's mechanics and gameplay world and discovery is so well made and you can feel how hard and compassionate they were in they ambition for this game. It all just endears fun and consistently surprises me how much I'm enjoying it. I find it to be a masterpiece and this years elden ring (though not quite as great as elden ring)
Theirs a cut at 47 seconds…. .You started the sentence very excited HOGWARTS LEGACY IS FAIRLY!!! (cut)…….. standard rpg game with……… Their was changes made here to lessen the excitement of the original statement? why? Most people can pick up on it if you look at the activity bar on the timeline for where people replay the vid a lot.
My thing with this game is that it'll instantly hook you… but around 10 or so hours in it gets really repetitive. There's a lack of distinct locations in the world. Everything looks the same. I wish there was more variety, like desert areas, mountain areas, etc etc. It's all just green hills (in different seasons). It gets boring. And the story is not engaging enough to keep you hooked. Overall, I know I'm going against the popular opinion but I'd give it like a 6.5. If you asked me in the first 10 hours I'd give it like a 9, but it got boring :/
It would have been awesome if the game made you attend class to gain certain abilities and xp. With specific cutscenes made for those classroom visits
I have to admit that I did find myself thinking that the main story was somewhat lackluster. Like you said, I would’ve appreciated the classes being more integral and more impact to the choices you make. I think the biggest problem that I had with the story itself is that Ranrok didn’t really strike me as “intimidating”. He kind of felt more like the Archon from Mass Effect Andromeda than anything else, even before the ending, and I was genuinely more interested in Isidora from the Keeper’s memories. I did like more than a few characters, though I wish that we got to do more with them outside of their storylines.
It's a looting rpg. Loot beasts loot camps loot caves. It's a great game
I have one complaint. I'm 40 hours into the game. I feel like 32 of those hours are in the game menu.
A little harsh on the story? Maybe? Took Rowling pretty much 5 books to get past "chosen one wins everything" to "chosen one has highlights of fun and laughter in between bouts of horrific life decisions and the true ramifications of being the only one who can save the world."
Its hard to hit it on the nose for everyone, but it seems this is doing a serviceable job. And no videogame with the name was ever going to be better than Harry Potter… I think we got the game everyone wanted…
Hell, I've never played a Harry Potter game. Nevere had any desire to either. Why would I want to when my imagination was so much better? This is the only Wizarding world game that peeked my interest enough to even pick up a controller, and to be honest, im glad I did, im having a blast!
I love this game. I go to work sad😢 I want to play again. I forget I have a girlfriend sometimes also 🙁 plz help
For me the world outside of Hogwarts is just as engaging and beautiful as the castle itself. It is huge and very well designed, beautiful to look at, and there are things to do everywhere I turn. I’m many hours in now and still finding new things constantly. Also flying around is incredibly fun and super smooth. This game is an absolute blast.
Not played yet but would really like to know is the rest of the world is alive I know hogwarts is super detailed but is the rest of the world as immersive? Can it compare to The Witcher 3 in anyway?
Game is like a 7 once you get past the wonder of hogwarts and the detail the story drops off and lots of missed opportunities
I need it on the Switch right now! 😭
if i havent watched any harry potter movie can i still play this game?
I hate Harry potter 😠
Baby's first open world game. so sad for this and Forspoken.
Why isnt there lgbt quests in the game i want to see Lgbt orgies happening in dormitories :/
I'm coming down from the nostalgia high now and I've gotta say this review is the one I agree with the most. It's tough to really articulate how this game in particular is somehow both too much like an RPG and too little of an RPG all at once, but you nailed it.
So I’ve never watched not one Harry Potter movie, nor read any Harry Potter book and no absolutely nothing about Hogwarts, except for when I visit universal studios/islands of venture basically saying I don’t know jack about this franchise, but I gave the game a shot and about 10 hours in and let me tell you I’m actually really impressed. There’s a lot of things in the game that I’m just like that is actually really interesting.
Just a sidenote, I have zero expectations because I was not looking forward to it so if you’re somebody that knows nothing about this franchise just know that I’m the same and I know I’m early in the game but I am really enjoying it and I didn’t even get my broom yet and this is not a game that I think you really need to have an open mind for , to me, is like a pretty unique action adventure type of game. I kind of look at it like Star Wars Jedi fallen order, but Harry Potter.
