dude where's your review on the movie….left me hanging
I can't wait for AngryJoes rant once he finds out that D&D neutered the male characters 🤔
@angryjoeshow the first dragon was acid. Not sure why they made it like tar. And you right the are not going to make it lore based as its all about getting new audiences to invest in into dnd products as they have been feeling they are making less because of the creativity that and monetization that has been occurring that isn't Hasbro based including youtubers.
This is good tho plus they played d&d before making the movie 🙂
Am I the only person in the Angry Joe army who unironically loves Dungeons & Dragons 2000?
it looks fun and comedy could work so we will see
That was a Black dragon that spits acid. this looks like it will be fun and have lots of D&D monsters and lore. I can't wait. A little humor should enhance the movie if they don't over do it.
I think it looks pretty sweet
Last one there are 2 movies the second was a sequel: wrath of the dragon god. this makes a 3rd film
It looks like a black dragon so it might be spitting acid
Michelle Rodriguez plays a barbarian. You know… barbarians are fast and furious? 😛 Also, taking it as a joke… players in dnd tend to banter and make everything funny
What about giving us elemental weapons or adding healers to the game innovation it's about time blizzard to make diablo fun and insane beyond imagination seriously hire me to work on future projects video games should be dropping on the market like candy industry is seriously dam lazy all this dam money little video games dropped now less what happen guys seriously why what happened wakeup stop dreaming start dam living you want to make money or keep failing yearly Developers are the problem not the gamers we give them ideas every year what to do make gaming great again we want video games not Barbie dolls no more excuses why did games stop doing this is beyond me that shit is real fun in games of old and new like Dungeons and Dragons
Why not just make a live version of the 80's cartoon if any of you recall it. with the right group of kids and writing man could be a pretty awesome!
Can't be worse than the last one for sure, and it's set in Forgotten Realms too so the lore is actually good this time around.
I am going to watch this
I too solod Baulder’s gate as a thief. Glad they made a movie about my exploits.
Asking for this to be “more serious” is just foolish
We already have coming out much sooner both the House of Dragons series and Rings of Power series later this year
Both are medieval fantasy in the serious category
This movie playing in a different route by playing both comedic and serious is better since I’m sure many might be tired of the concept by the time of the films release
At least for those that intend to watch all 3 medias
I know I felt quite more enjoyment out of both Wonder Woman and Aquaman after watching Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman AND Justice League
I NEEDED some comedic and serious stories after all that serious only with only the rare occasional comedic quip
Black Dragons breath acid, so they got that correct!
Dude I like your show, that is a STONE dragon bro its not supposed to look that great!!!
Trying to hard not to like stuff again
It looks like they are trying to go for the same kind of tone that you would find in most actual play show, like D20 and critical role
D&D could have a whole universe. Just saying. Some fun, some serious.
GOTG style DND movie? You might not be on board Joe, but sign me up.
friends of me are very deep into D&D and they had a story once where they get attacked by pooo throwing apes and stuff…i dont know where you get the thinking that D&D campains under friends are hardcore deep dark played out….
lol?
Why does the audio keep cutting out
The problem with making a D&D movie is D&D is, outside of the books, it's all head canon (and even then DM's pick and choose what they want from the books and rules). Every DM's and player's version of D&D is different. It's impossible to make a D&D movie that every one agrees looks like D&D because every campaign and game is played differently in the D&D universe. That's the beauty of the game. If you think this looks like D&D, then maybe it's because it looks like YOUR version of D&D, but it might not be mine.
Sorry, but having played Dungeons and Dragons for a good while…..the 'seriousness' of the lore may be there, but players generally don't care about that (or have it be a majorly impactful).
The only way to do a 'serious story' would be to follow an already established character, but if you're going to take it from the angle of player characters……the humor has to be there.
Looks like a live version of Vox Machina. Even the leader is a bard
At 8:00 I didnt realise Alex had a cat on his lap, I only saw the moving "tail". Jesus the horror I went through for two seconds.
I liked the trailer a lot and I think it gives a very good and looks fun 🙃
Okay. Possible Spoiler Alert if I'm right. As a DnD nerd, a Film nerd, and a Writing nerd I'm gonna call it here in the comments.
3rd Act. Lowest point for all the characters. Hope is lost. What's the plan?
Bard Probably: "Well… we're thieves… why don't we steal it back.?"
If this doesn't both start and end as a heist I'll be pleasantly surprised.
Also yes. It looks good. I'm excited.
Joe's if you haven't played dnd yet, try it, it's really fun!
and it might also help you understand what they are going for with this movie too,
If they are going to do a serious dnd movie, it might be based off of the Drizzt novels.
If you want a good dungeons and dragons movie/show, just look up Son of a Dungeon.
Damn, I had a feeling that maybe we already did a D&D movie before. I was right. That 2000 movie looked atrocious. So I guess Hollywood is trying again.
You could absolutely get a Lord of the Rings type serious story out of the original Dragonlance Trilogy or maybe Forgotten Realms Crystal Shard original Drizzt trilogy…but instead we just get more Marvel throw away humor ad nauseum. Will it make money? Yes, because Idiocracy is real.
Ten bux says Alex will hate this movie…
The dragon at the beginning of the trailer is a black dragon, they spit acid
Joe y'all critiquing to much…
The idea was to capture the feel of a dungeons and dragons campaign. A ragtag party who fucks up and releases a cataclysmic evil on the world goes on a quest to fix it. I think having fun with it was the right call instead of trying to make it all serious.
Joe then why not make your own fan film. Like we would all be there and hell even act in it for you if you asked. Like if you guys want something like this it would be doable with your budget and following.
Honestly, I think the marvel pump and dump method will make this a successful movie, but not a good movie. I highly doubt people will want to see it more than once, and it wont pioneer a new "movie fan base" that they are probably intending.
Hate to say it, they feel such negative nellies some times.
hi joe watch the legend of vox machina it on prime video
Ok so for a serious dnd, I think you'd have to tackle an actual dnd lore story, cause thats where the serious and intense moments are in, the stories we hear, but this seems more like the average dnd campaign, with an actual group of players, some serious moments but alot of goofiness and fun you'd expect sitting around a table playing with people, it will probably lean more towards " hey remember when something like this happened to us "
Would love to see the realm of Ravenloft in this, but I doubt The movie will go there and see Count Strahd. Even though that would be cool. 😎
Another diverse cast just for the sake of it.
Well this is the 4th Dungeons and Dragons Movie. There were 2 other movies made after the wayns one that were made for TV movies.
i thought they played dnd or knew some lore bits? Wouldnt they know what a black dragon is and spews since chromatics r pretty prevlent in a lot of dnd stuff.
Why do they always ruin D&D movies with bad costumes and bad cgi make it a big joke…..looks like shit. You want a good D&D movie make it about the Icewind dale and dark elf books and TAKE IT SERIOUSLY
