This is such a great sonic game.

I think it’s because the term “meta” has completely lost actual meaning nowadays and most Sonic fans online just use it pseudo-intellectually as a buzzword to dismiss every game that came out in the 2010s out of cynicism. Just because there’s one line in Sonic Forces that passively references Generations’ title. I feel like whenever people genuinely try to use “meta” as a criticism, they’re mostly just talking about the Sonic boom cartoon, or Twitter memes.
You complaining about tantrums is quite funny when you are a literal cry baby
I like how "sonic fans are delusional" is one of the topics youtube AI came up with

its probably on purpose but i like the point about low quality being made as we see Modern Sonic's janky running animation, just really brings it home liked that👌
eggman is ginger in sonic heroes
i agree with almost all of your points but your constant mocking of fans comes across as insufferable to listen to
With your final point, the problem isn’t that most Sonic fans don’t like criticism; they hate when Sonic tubers and critics make their criticism and give no construction or resolution. This is tantamount to doomers whining and moaning about a hopeless situation, which is psychotic and unproductive, when there are far better avenues to direct disaffected rage.
Can I ask what version of the Biolizard theme you used at around 21 minutes or so? I'd love to look it up but you don't have it linked.

Recent this video, I have noticed a increase in quality from Sega for example, sonic frontiers turned out way better than pretty much all the friends were expecting well. By all the fans I mean all the negative opinion releases, which which some of those I do honestly agree to extend and don’t always agree with those positive , as everyone calls them example of this is sonic frontiers turning out amazing even though the trios and all that made it seem like it wasn’t gonna be as good as it turned out to be as well as sonic superstars, turning out to be a amazing game that I honestly love same thing with SonicDreamTeam And to some extent Sonic Racing for iPhone and iPad and yes, you can get Sonic Racing on Apple Arcade. I think that is a little better than the team Sonic Racing game that they were released unconscious but hey, that’s just my opinion if you have any disagreements try not to come at me just like this man said, we need to be a good community Foster change in a positive way so I hope you all will join me and trying to do this
I know this vídeo Was one Year ago but I really wanted to express how I Feel It really breaks my heart into pieces Seeing How a Character That Is very special to me Has such a bad reputation Because of people Who have Nothing better to do in there Lifes Insulting people just because They think Different than You its really Messed up Especially If that Person Is Going through Something Tough I Hope that in the future This Fandom Can be Away from any toxic discussion Its sad that a Character like Sonic has such Tóxic fans if You can call them fans Of course not everybody is like the people shown on this vídeo It brings a smile to my face When I see people like Emi Jones Who just Wanna share There Love for this Beautiful Franchise I hope we can get better in the future I just find Your channel Yesterday And Its really sad You had to deal With those people I don't know You but I Wish the best To Your channel You seem like a cool guy Thanks to anyone who reads this Sorry If I misspelled anything English Is not my Language😅
Why can't you people put the sponsorship at the END of the video?
I've never felt such a sense of community or resided with so many Sonic fans at once until scrolling through these comments. You guys are great, let's start something!
Maybe IGN was right about sonic
god i despise people like you in our fandom. just cant be happy can you, then leave. negative opinions have no place here and do not matter
I think it's funny that Aarons actual response was just "maybe you should start working on the series"
I'm watching this on 2024 for the first time, and everything's on point holy crap lol
As a young Sonic fan who grew up during the Meta Era, I have something to say.
I have a soft spot for the game, Shadow The Hedgehog. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.
I think the biggest issue with the discourse around Sonic in general is the frankly bipolar nature of the reactions to every game.
Sometimes it's justified, but even Forces had some good to it – the avatar customization. I didn't play Forces so I've got nothing else there.
Frontiers was fun and had a great story and characters, but it has camera issues, terrible pop-in with no render distance options, and update 3 did not feel playtested at all. They did apparently fix the boss rush at least, which was my biggest problem, though I haven't tried that again yet. But to the fans, it was a repeat of Generations or Colors saving the day until update 3 doomed the franchise again.
Players really need to learn to specify what is wrong with the game when it isn't fun for them and applaud the parts of the game they do enjoy.
My personal list to hopefully start the discussion…
I love the fact Ian Flynn is writing and I hope he stays on the writing team for a long time. This guy is for Sonic what Dave Filoni is to Star Wars. Let him cook, he started as a fan and knows the characters better than Sega does themselves sometimes.
I'd love it if they would continue letting us play as other characters, including
introducing some of the IDW exclusive characters like Tangle into the playable roster.
I want a render distance slider in the next open-zone style game, and better camera controls. Those umbrella enemies on Ares Island in Frontiers are a pain because they take control of the camera away when you are just passing by them.
I think Sega should hire certain fan project devs to remaster older games like Adventure 1 and 2 in an official capacity. And Sonic games need playtesters for quality assurance. If they already exist, you need to either listen to them if they find issues or get new ones or more of them if they haven't been for the past few games.
All in all, I'm glad there have been fans being hired to work on Sonic games. It could be done better in places (Origins controversy) but a lot of Sonic fans are really talented and those fan project creators need to be in the next generation of Sonic Team. Who better to make the games but the people who know what they loved about the games they grew up with?
Anyway, sorry for the essay-length comment on a year-old video.
TL;DR:
Great video.
Critics (fans) shouldn't be critical, they should be critiquing – applaud the good qualities so they get brought back, point out the bad qualities so they get fixed or abandoned.
Good stuff can come from bad games and vice versa. Frontiers was great fun but flawed. Forces was a wreck but not the end of the world and still had some merit.
Sega needs to hire more fan game creators and treat them like the treasure they are.
As someone who loved frontiers, even planning on 100%ing the game, I won’t hate you at all for disliking it.
It feels embarrassing to call myself a sonic fan sometimes.
Got jumped on twitter for saying that Sonic topics are generally annoying and people started diaregarding my opnion, It's like you have to keep up with Sonic twitter's new mob mentality or else you are a "whinny baby" or "not a true fan"
love when people on the internet try to look smart and end up looking fuckin retarded
A little over a year later and this video still holds up IMO. Post-Frontiers is just as bad as pre-Frontiers. The Sonic fandom truly fell into a place of no return.
I don’t know if anyone will see this But Videos like this really made me and a lot of others realise how bad the Fanbase can Get at times and I myself try to call out toxic positivity More often
This era of quality MIGHT be over
28:29 "Have fun waiting Shadow The Hedgehog 2…" oh boy, how things have turned out…
It’s harder to like sonic than it is to hate it. The complaining about “toxic positivity” feels like it comes more from wanting to divide the fandom more than connect it. You gain nothing from being nice about sonic. You just get called a shill, or a paid sponsor, or someone who just enjoys mediocre slop. A certain fadel had to deal with such a person. Someone who fits the perfect example of how self destructive people are. Wouldn’t say it applies to you fully, but being a total jerk is the most lucrative thing in this community. To pretend it isn’t, is laughable. Contentious behavior and a f*tish for discourse is what makes this community so hard to be around. Especially when you so easily give your likes and attention to people who’ve made horrible transphobic comments simply because they follow in like with what everyone else says. And the way older fans poke at young people just kinda exemplifies that doesn’t it. “They don’t know anything: they’re a young sonic fan. They only like “toxic positivity”. They need to learn how to stop eating slop.” Nah I don’t think everyone should think like that. Or even butt in when they don’t need to. Or any other sonictuber who focuses their platform on hateposting or being disappointed with everything. You don’t gotta like everything sonic team puts out. Nothing to do with corporate shilling or drowning out criticism. But because that’s your first thought to pushback, why should we waste our time? People find comfort in Sonics world and games. Why shame them for that? I play other games. But no one has the right to shame and insult me or others just for learning to enjoy something that the rest of the online world has tried to convince us it isn’t worth enjoying. You can’t talk about something nice with sonic without having someone jump into your post to call it trash or say “play better games”. Yea we get upset when people talk bad about sonic sometimes. People get really personal. It’s how we are divided. It’s how you talk down to us for being young. It’s how they isolated people like myself or others, like that one really positive sonic girl on twitter. That’s what gets to me. You never acknowledge our isolation
There goes all the years of trust for Sega. And the nail in the coffin is in the form of researching their games that have fitted with anti-tamper from Denuvo. I will never buy games from them that have Denuvo in them. The final decision is to let the company rot. Nothing personal. Corporations are corporations after all.
You really wanna piss Sonic fans/Twitter off? Tell them Archie Sonic is better with handling lore and all characters outside of Sonic himself than Sega had been with the games since Adventure 2.

I remember saying “ I do not know where this series is going?” Honestly, I still do not know. I have been people said “ we are in a good place right now.” But are we really? I just realized Sonic Boom was 10 years ago and Forces was 7! It feels like certain things have not changed. With people not to trying change nothing will get done.
Sometimes even when you tell people the truth. People will denied it or get rid of it. Regardless, you have to regardless if people agree or not. If no one does nothing will ever get done.
Not surprised pretty typical? yeah pretty typical! 😒😒😒😒
During his Sonic 3D Blast LP, ClementJ64 made a comment about how he preferred the Genesis OST over the Saturn OST. He even said for those that prefer the Saturn OST, they are WRONG! (Most likely meant to be a joke)
Unfortunately, his “comment” rewarded him with so much hate mail, it was ridiculous. I mean…COME ON! IT’S AN OPINION!!!
you mentioning how sonic is a religion made me conjure up something in my mind
"Jeb, did you do your daily Sonic prayer of harassing other sonic fans on twitter? Or have you bought the most recent product available? Or played the new sonic mobile game? No? What do you mean Sonic isn't in a good state right now? WHAT? HOW DARE YOU JOKE ABOUT OUR SONIC MAKERS? BLASPHEMOUS, REPENT THIS INSTANT OR FACE THE MIGHTY ANGER OF SONIC"
i tried
I dream a Timeline if sega was just like Nintendo them this franchise wouldve take a different path and the fanbase would be different .
Sega s' business arrogance and greed failures and failures is what ruined this fanbase and the series for a brief period of time.
Its impossible to reasonate wth the fans cuz how egocentric and dirty minded they are , its impossible to criticize anything in sonic to improve and be better , cuz they don't want sense and improvement no they want to stalk every critics to attack the people due to their " offended" personality and be toxic monsters themselves ,
This is why the fanbase deserves to be made fun of due to their constent dirty mindsets , the fanbase is part of the dirty society they are 🤮that needs to be filtered out to drink clean water .😁😭🤭💅
Edit : i got attacked by a fan about Sonic teams wanting to surpass their fans by taking inspiration and this guy argue wth everybody and when we told him to stop argue he become toxic , which is making me hate / despite this fanbase even more
Sonic fans never learns do they ….
So, I thought of something new. The negative stigma of being a Sonic fan never went away; it only changed form. A decade ago, negative opinions ran this series, now the positives are trying to drown them out without understanding who was just being rude and who had a genuine issue with a new game, show or movie. I'm thinking it's like this: "Negative opinions gave us the Meta Era, so we should go back to being positive." No nuance, no deeper ideas. And I think that's why, a whole year after this video, it still happens. These gremlins don't want to feel like Sonic is learning the wrong lessons, but won't tell Sega (the puppet masters) why what they did is wrong and instead try to wait for good stuff to come to them with enough praise. What a sad state of affairs. I'm not even mad, I'm beyond anger or disappointment, I've accepted this because it doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. One day, this blue menace will run his course and end forever and when nothing good comes of it, the toxins will have no one but themselves to blame.
