3:58 I see what you did there
Either way sage sounds like a dying goose
To whoever thinks that sonic doesn't help in the true final boss, he does. Sonic is the one that shoots those missiles from the R2 press (or something else depending on your device)
18:22 I really appreciated your attempt to improve the sage memory scene.
It took you an hour to finish Rhea?!
I don’t like the ending. I was watching eggman mourning. Then I thought wow eggman is a super genius. Yet he is so lonely that he builds robots to keep him company. He lost his idol his grandfather now he lost sage. An artificial life form of his creation. That learned to do the right thing from sonic. It was her decision and it was eggman that let her go. Even to her own demise. It’s quite poetic and deep. Then he brings her right back the next scene
Sonic’s birthday is after my birthday and I hate that😢
I wish that the S-Rank mission was changed to A-Rank and then they made S-Rank more difficult. 1-2 difficulty for all S-Ranks. This way it provides a challenge for older Sonic fans while still not hindering the progress of newer players.
Watched the whole thing, I’ve been sick so I had the time, but I agree with all your points here! With the lack of polish, dumb pinball, Ouranos being stingy, cyberspace, Sonic Team needing more of a budget, etc
BLdy McNosehair is in the Egg Memo 21 obtained from Big The Cat.
The start is a spoiler. Leave Immediately! Me: No thanks, I payed 60$ for this.
I'm actually glad that the hacking Final Boss is only in Hard Mode because I can't play bullet hell shooters. That said… yeeeah, it's kind of… weird.
I did see the playthrough of Sonic Frontiers and I got to say when it comes to difficulty, it kinda holds back. Most of the time. There are other games that came out in 2022 that I wanna recommend pretty badly but at the same time, I don't wanna sound like a man who is obsessed with those games and wanna see you play those games.
Should I or should I not mention those games. You let me know.
Sonics getting older. Becoming more mature. And finally stop making bad jokes. I feel !ike the story is well written. People keep on saying this game is bad or terrible etc.. But Imma get the game in 2 daya.
the 2020s is really bring out the best and the worst of the gaming industry
This game is amazing, imo the only things they really should have changed are the cyberspace levels and the final boss, everything else is pretty much perfect, though I do see where the open world could use some refining, either way this is the best Sonic game Sega was released since Generations, and i actually consider it better since it actually has an interesting plot, and amazing character interactions through out, this is the first Sonic game in forever where I actually enjoyed watching the cutscenes and seeing Sonic interact with them, plus for the first time in a long while Sonic wasn't cringey constantly, maybe some lines are little cringe but for the most part I loved Sonic's portrayal in the game, and I especially loved the cutscenes with him and Knuckles, and the added lore to the chaos emeralds is pretty neat, I like how they're embracing the weird parts now and taking the plot seriously instead of trying to make Sonic edgy to make the story seam serious or having him crack childish jokes like "Baldy McNoseHair" every couple seconds
16:16 the singing in this scene was so shoking I thought it was a Joke it was extremely funny I just couldn’t take this scene seriously
edit: there’s like 5 voice cracks
just bought it on the series S. it's on sale at the time of this comment but act fast the sale ends on January 2nd 2023.
I think when Sonic Team made SA1, they used Mario 64’s open world playground design as a base to find what works safely before making their own game later. SA2 was supposed to be their refinement after finding what worked, SA2 essentially being the true first 3D Sonic game. The weird part is that I guess they didn’t realise until 24 years later that big open playgrounds work perfectly for sonic.
Sonic Frontiers is a great step towards better games, but I feel like Sonic Team & SEGA is in a perpetual state of "We can get right, I swear! Just give us one more shot".
Great review!
Also in 32:38. I like Sam is want to die if the next Sonic Game have Green Hill Zone again- xD
Three key reasons to be excited for the future as a result of Frontiers:
(1. This is the best received Sonic game done by Sonic Team since Sonic Generations, so there is now a foundation to build on for future games. (2. This is the best selling Sonic Game in Japan since Adventure 2, meaning SEGA will likely be more willing to splash out more money, time and staff for the development of a sequel. (3. There are no anniversaries on the horizon. One of the reasons this game was rushed was so it could still be the 30th anniversary game (even after it had been delayed for a year). The next anniversary of note is the 40th, there is no 'deadline' necessarily for the next game.
Something I wanna point out about the first Sage song near the end
The melody itself actually matches that with Dear Fathers
52:26 🤨🤨🤨🤨
The End was the best boss fight in the game. Tons of fun. And that music. Beautiful.
Pure 9/10
Get good
Finished
Well the Mágnum Opus is going to get finished after all
3:57 omggg his world
Imagine Super Supreme with Sonic moveset vs The End for hard ending
You know what's funny, for all the comparisons people have made with Sonic Frontiers to other open world games, the game it reminds me of the most is actually this little indie adventure game/fox simulator called Spirit of the North, where you're trying to defeat a corruptive entity in this blasted and post-apocalyptic tundra landscape. The atmosphere of beautiful devastation combined with the first stages of ecological recovery and the abandoned, partially overgrown vestiges of a dead civilization… well, which of the games am I even describing in that sentence, eh? 😀
In terms of art style and atmosphere the two are dead ringers for each other.
BTW I think the city theme in the cyberspace levels with all the military theming is supposed to be Radical Highway which is… an interesting choice, but at least it's something that's not copy-pasted from Generations….
the finale of this game is like a wet fart it was so great early on but jesus did they drop the ball I just hope with the next game they don't do this ag- (5 years later) dammit
I'm back after defeating and 100% Kronos island. I was like… that's it? Half of the map is so big and there was literally so many wall riding spaces on the other side!. I was big sad
If you don’t like green hill zone in frontiers you simply play too much sonic. That’s like saying you’re tired of Mac sauce on a big Mac. This will be new generation’s SA2
the Hitstun on slide kicks is shorter than homing attacking, I usually end up using it as a replacement for the boost hitbox since they removed that
Brother was pretty bad at Ouranos then because it was both easy and my favorite island tbh. Also, hot take but I love THE END cause it utilizes the mini game that was hard that you used on mechanical equipment and expands upon on it with the true final boss. It’s different but Kirby does these like this and I respect it. So same case here. Also it being a very hard fight was 👌🏽
pinball physics are much better on pc for some reason. (At least in my experience.)
Man, it almost feels like you were supposed to face The End with all the Titans from Cyberspace, in several phases. Maybe The End, not being able to access its true form yet, engages Sonic and one Titan in a form taken from Sonics memories. Each phase has Sonic and Sage team up to deliver a final blow using a signature move from each Titan.
Giganto and Sonic face The End in the form of a Massive Death Egg Robot—or even the Death Egg itself. This phase starts in the planet's upper atmosphere. Finishing blow: Sonic with the help of Sage enters and Giganto's Ancient pilot gives words of encouragement. Giganto rolls into a ball with golden Super Sonic energy quills to perform the Giganto Spin Dash. Breaking The form.
Sonic and Sage team with Wyvern to face The End in an (again) massive form of either Perfect Chaos or Biolizard. The goal is to parry Wyverns missiles as they are shot in your direction. The first missile is crucial as all following missiles come in fast and can knock you back. Each successful parry enhances the missile giving it a golden aura and knocks them into The End. Final blow shows Sage talking with the Ancient pilot, showing that Sage was assisting in guiding the missiles. With words of encouragement from the Ancient, Sage launches a full volley at Sonic. He combines the missiles with his homing shot. This destroys the second form. This battle is while circling the moon with the planet gett farther away.
Third, Knight vs The End assuming a form of Neo Metal. Dont know how this one works out, but maybe Sage once again resides in the Knight assisting the Ancient pilot, and helps Sonic fuse into the blade ITSELF. The blade gains the golden aura and grows razor blades on its edge. Parry with the shield once the enemy has attacked in the pattern, and Sonic can reposte by launching the sword or sending golden razor wind. Final blow has Sage, with more encouragement from the Ancient attack using the saw blade shield. Sonic as the sword must use prompts to impale The End Neo Metal. Through another series of prompts, Sage is guided to the neck…
This part is surrounded by a sea or stars, but observe how one is brighter and bluer than the others…even farther away…
Then Ikaruga time.
Supreme, piloted by Sage and empowered by Sonic, engage in the shooter. Halfway through phase two starts. You are at the ruins of the Ancients home planet. The surrounding space is just a void; The End ATE all the stars and planets. The End takes the remains of that planet and forms into Dark Gaia: End.
I'm at a loss at how to do this one. Maybe, have Supreme Sage place reflective nodes around the thing and have Sonic use them to increase speed and therefore damage not unlike the Sumo fights.
Final blow should find Sonic as the bullet in the gun. The gun is destroyed from the sheer power once fired. That's why the fastball maneuver was needed in the end.
…or anything really. I liked the shooting part but it will never top the Titans we faced prior. Last boss should have been over the top. Especially for a cool villain like this.
Maybe they ran out of both time and money…
Your avatar thing is very… uncanny. It scares me. I don't like it
It's good to hear from someone who has played both the PlayStation 5 and Switch versions, both extremes. It sounds like the Switch is a case of, "Temper your expectations. It does well for the hardware." I agree the PS5 versions doesn't take advantage of the platform. Yet another cross-gen game where PS4 to PS5 just feels like they took the PC version and upped the sliders from High to Very High, not even Ultra.
