An industry insider claims that Steam, the digital PC gaming store, will be available on the next-gen Xbox console!
For almost every PC gamer, the vast majority of their games will be on Steam. But despite the store’s popularity, it has only remained on PCs so far.
However, Xbox and PC have become closely intertwined over the past few years, especially with the Xbox app for Windows. Now, the next logical step for Microsoft is to bring Steam to its consoles.
Fortunately for Xbox fans, Steam arriving on Xbox consoles seems more likely than ever now.

Insider Claims Steam Will be Coming to Xbox Consoles
Co-Managing Editor of Windows Central, Jez Corden, said in a new tweet that “100% Steam is on the next Xbox”.
While neither Xbox nor Valve (Steam’s parent company) have confirmed this claim yet, it seems quite likely that Steam will make its way onto consoles in the near future.
At the very least, a recent interview with Phil Spencer certainly suggests this will be the case.
When speaking to Polygon back in March, Spencer said he could see digital marketplaces like the Epic Games store come to Xbox in the future. By that logic, Microsoft’s CEO of Gaming would also welcome Steam to Xbox consoles.

However, Steam arriving on the next Xbox is still far from a sure thing.
Firstly, members of the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit have been quick to point out that Jez Corden is not always reliable. While he has insider knowledge of Microsoft and Xbox, subreddit members don’t give too much credence to his tweets and claim he often backtracks.
Secondly, Microsoft and Valve would have to agree a deal to bring Steam to Xbox consoles, and that would likely be very complicated.
With the most recent rumors suggesting that the next-gen Xbox will arrive in late 2026, the companies may not have time to come to an agreement to bring Steam to Xbox before then.
Even if Steam does eventually come to Xbox consoles, an announcement is almost certainly a long way off. After all, Xbox will have to announce its next hardware, and even that is going to be at least a year away!
