The only way we are going to move forward in Space exploration is to have the Government stop funding Nasa, shut it down. Then, you will see the private sector take over and do it's thing. The private sector ( making exploration a business) will do wonders, and the U.S.will be the leader once again but In a colossal way. Until then we will be dickering around. By now we should have already figured out a way to have a longer lasting battery, By now we should have found a much cheaper way to launch payloads. Nasa, doesn't have competition, imagine if they did, imagine how farther they will be today!

I would rather see money go on space planet deveopment for life support and colonization and human long term survival then greedy banks and over wealthy ass holes or war and bombs and stuff, why can't the world put a tax on the federal Reserve, ? % of all money created by world reserve banks to go directly to space and planet projects, think of all the jobs created, think what we would learn in school, think about the untapped resources on mars, the glory, the wealth the need..

We should have continued on to Mars and continued developing our rocket technology throughout the 70's. NASA has become just another government entity worried about it's turf and budget. Instead of harnessing it's resources to do something great they are more worried about extending there tentacles into vast directions so the cancelling of a project does not phase NASA's budget. Unfortunately that kind of status quo thinking and striving for entrenchment does not produce anything but mediocrity and studies that provide 0 return for the dollars that are spent.

Because we want to prove that the universe is full of life, not just on earth. This would change the way we think about life, religion, and space itself.
Lets spend a trillion $ to collect some rocks and yeast. dont worry about asteroids. they provide an accessible spot to gather resourses. they also WILL hit us one day and end civilisation. but why go to an asteroid? if you want mars rocks go collect meteors. Any life on mars is probably yeast from earth.

5000 years of human history might give you a clue to this basic fact. I do think that peace is preferable to war, but the fact that there hasn't been a major war between the Great Powers in the past 70 years is more of an anomaly, and probably would have occurred if it weren't for the threat posed by nuclear weapons.
