I love the last of us. I bought it on ps3 and was happy to buy it again on PS4 for a remastered version. When part 1 came out I was about to jump on it but I realized I've played through this game so many times I just can't justify paying top dollars for it a third time. Now it's available to play with my ps+ subscription so i got to play it anyway. It is absolutely gorgeous and I can see why it would be worth the money but if I had paid good money for this game a third time then found out it's free with my subscription, i would have been pissed. I have to admit it's a huge improvement though. Definitely worth buying if you're New to the game
They should've added more stealth kill animations.
I have the original on my ps3 which I still play from time to time on my 24 inch PlayStation simulview monitor and I Still have the remastered version for my ps4 pro. Not only do I prefer the character models in the original and remastered version just like how I preferred Bubniak’s version of Peter Parker in Spiderman 4 before the ps5 remaster changed him, but I also prefer other things like how the bow and arrow works in the original and the ps4 remastered. In Last of Us 2 Ellie looks more hardened and in the original she looked more innocent and hopeful which suited the story being told in the first game. Making the character models look the same in the remake as they do in the sequel just for continuity doesn't work thematically. Ellie comes off looking older now. In the original, Tess looked more like the Matrix's Carrie Ann Moss but in the remake she just looks like an old chic. The female characters in general look less attractive than they did in the original, kind of like how Alloy looked prettier in HZD than it's sequel and Mary Jane looked prettier in the ps4 Spiderman than she does in it’s sequel and how Kay looks the way she does in Star Wars Outlaw despite the actress actually being pretty and female characters in generally getting more of a masculine look than they had in the games of old 🤷Those are my observations. Definitely prefer how the character models looked in the original and ps4 remaster.
The issue I have with this game is that it is being called a remake when it is really just another remaster and that they sold the game at that high of a price based on the remake concept.
this only works for me because I skipped all the cutscenes to speed run it and I never played it again after it was an amazing game from the few cut scenes I did not skip that was me back than just being a a impatient kid missing out on all the good stuff.

It's not a remake. A remake is when they completely rebuild the game.. they didn't do that. They took the old game and just made it prettier and better lighting. That's why they said they couldn't make the gameplay more like TLOU2.. like why not? If you completely rebuilt the game from scratch than why cant you make the combat like TLOU2? Because it's not a real remake

It matters on the individual. This will be the 3rd version of the game I happily spent my money on, and it was worth every single penny. Most games that come out these days don't even have graphics this good, and the gameplay is better than it's ever been, money well spent

You and another YouTuber I just watched are basically making the same points. Valid points but the gameplay mechanics is definitely way better than the original version and the remastered version. Way better. Forget the graphics, the gameplay is just so much smoother. Just like the ps4 version of spider man felt much smoother on ps5, with not just swinging, but the fighting mechanics, but after finally getting the ps5 remastered version it feels even smoother and makes me feel more like I’m inside that world with the dualsense controller. Playing the ps5 version on ps5 makes me NOT want o go back to any of the ps4 versions because although the story is the same and still great, the gameplay mechanics really aggravated the F*ck outta me when playing the remastered version on ps4 about 3-6 years ago. Couldn’t even beat the game on the hardest difficulty because of the. THE PS5 version is worth it because of the gameplay mechanics enhancements for THIS game. Obviously the sequel has better gameplay mechanics if you end up trying to compare the two to make a point.

It's not a remake, it's an update. There's a difference. They could have put this out as a next gen update for free just like every other game company does but naughty dog really took advantage of its loyal fan base. Total cash grab there's no way to justify paying full price for a graphic update. The witcher 3 just came out in 4K update for new gen consoles. They didn't charge a penny. Just released as an update and that's the way it should be.
No,it not just a fresh coat of paint! The remastered version was a fresh coat of paint! This is rebuilt from the ground up!! Hell I bought just to play with the graphics on ps5! Wile I agree I shouldn't be 70 bucks,its worth it to me!! It don't showcase ps5's full potential but the graphics are waaaaay better than even the remastered version!

The remake is probably aimed more at people like me, I mean I've been wanting to play this game for YEAR'S so I've seen the original, the remaster and the remake release and personally for me since I'm likely going to be playing this on a PS5 kind of just makes sense to get the remake because I don't even really have the same comparison
