I would love to know your thoughts in the comment section below. As always, thank you for watching.
As a Mac and iPad user, I would buy one of these, so I could casually play my Steam games, without having to get involved with Windows etc.
It'll be interesting to see how it competes with the iPad (say in 2 year's time) given the latest announcement from Apple regarding releasing AAA games on iOS (and MacOS).
I’ve put my order down for the 256 storage model (July last year), and should be able to buy between July – September this year. Hoping by this time the dock for it will be released as I won’t be using it much as a handheld but for my TV. Do you know where they are dispatched from for UK delivery. Great review Jason.
Great review ✌🏼
hi mate whats your railway channel, im a gamer second and a serious railway/warhammer modellor first , id like to see your art at modelling…
If you don't end up returning it, I would definitely be interested in a stream of you playing on it from start of a session until the battery is almost gone.
Great review of the Steam Deck Jason. I have a 256gb on pre-order & play simulator games as well. So was looking to see how ATS and ETS2 ran on the deck. Will be a great bit of kit to travel with.
Great video, looks an amazing pc, which would you say is worth it more, buying this or getting gforce now for xbox series s?
Brill review. I actually completely forgot this was a thing, until watching this review. I actually think I would look at getting one. I sort of miss hand held gaming. I don’t own a PC but love this idea if one. But cost a land space and all that. However I also enjoy games like FIFA and sport games in general so I think I would actually use it. Thanks for your review and your time making it Jason really appreciate you work.
Great bit of kit but not something I need.
I'm almost positive i would've pre ordered 1 but alas no australian release yet and not really in the mood with dealing with the "other" way to purchase 1 currently lol
Decent review 🙂 do I need a Steam Deck?! definitely not, do I have one pre-ordered?! Absofuckinglutely 🤣 had the 512gb version ordered since last year a few weeks after they went up for pre-order, currently I’m showing a quarter 3 or later date. I’m interested in it for its emulation capabilities nearly as much as I’m interested in running the latest big titles on it, seeing some great results with systems such as GameCube, Wii, PS2 etc which will be awesome on the go along with the Steam library 🙂 I already have an array of handheld systems including a GPD Win2 which I don’t use so I thought I’d better add one more to the mix much to the delight of my Mrs 🤣😂 looking forward to October when mine will hopefully make an appearance!
Shame u dnt say the price on any products that u get I understand most ppl dnt like doin it coz they get put off part from that great video though stream deck is more to a mobile player rather then a console players
Great review! I agree–as cool as this is I'll be much more interested when version 2 comes along.
Do you need a WiFi connection to play on this?
Cheers Jase, interesting to hear your take on this. I considered a Steam Deck but decided it was overkill for the portable retro gaming experience I was looking for and went for an Ayn Odin instead, smaller, less powerful but nails the portable / pocketable form factor. Plays most everything up to a good amount of PS2 and Gamecube and light enough to use in vertical mode for my SHMUP addiction, that'll do nicely.
Jason this has a desktop mode too, if you hook it up to a monitor it will run higher resolutions too. However if you start gaming at higher resolutions don't expect 60 FPS. And 4K game yeah not happening. (Unless you do a lot of upscaling)
You didn't dissapoint. So many dodgy innuendos in this video. I'd like to think they're all intentional. 😊. But thanks for the down to earth review as well. Like you say quite a few technical reviews out there but they don't always give a real feel of how it is, to use in a day to day situation.
Does look nice
what is the battery life on it?
The screen size may be in inhibitor but i reckon the steam deck dock would solve that if you want to use it as a main PC. Thanks for the great review!
great review, thanks Jason. i'll resist for now as i'm mainly working from home, but a cool piece of kit. Does this mean the ringing doorbell during yesterdays stream really was the steam deck? 😁
Actually not a bad piece of kit for a 1st gen device. Graphics look good particularly ATS! I’m sure Mr Fox will be very happy when he wins it….🤣🤣
MrRev and I are replacing our gaming laptops with the steam deck. They are over 6yrs old and the only thing we are losing is the ram that our laptops have. (64g ram) We both ordered the 64g version and he has had his for a month and i am still waiting on mine
What a great little thing this is, truly fantastic. Great points made at the end of the review with regards to who would and would not really benefit from grabbing a Steam Deck. A splendid hands-on review. Thanks, Jason. 👍
Man mine is still underway…. 😞 I am not jealous I'm not jealous….
Thanks for a great review I’ve just cancelled my reservation for the 512gb and reserve the 64gb Version as that will be big enough for me If I need any more storage I can always get an SD card
I just ordered a Steam Deck, and can't wait to play 'On The Road Truck Simulator' over the weekend and beyond.
Great video and review Jase, I have pre-ordered one, I payed a deposit on Steam for it, last year, how do you actually buy it, or do you have to wait until Steam contacts you.
Looks interesting. Told me everything I needed to know but not sure I need one right now. Like you said, a good laptop can fulfil many travel needs. Thanks for the review
My 64Gb was great with a 1TB SD card.
When i sold it i pre-ordered a 512GB, but just cancelled and reordered a 64GB again.
Its really not worth £210 for a bit more internal storage if your just planning to game.
Your better spending the cash on a bigger SD card. Loading is proved to be just as fast.
As for the antiglare, you can buy antiglare screen protectors for £6
Great review as always Jason, Was very impressed with the quality for a 800p screen. Have to agree with you though maybe 2.0 will be worth the wait. I still think these are going to sell really well though.
Perfect for driving sim trains on a real train🤔😁
Good review jase and very good point about if you don’t leave the house much there ain’t much point if you have a pc already, unlike the switch where that’s the only way to play Nintendo games, I still want one tho lol, going to take awhile for me to get my hands on one as there was no pre order for them in south east Asia
Hey Jason will you play American Truck Simulator on the Steam Deck?
The perfect device for any teen or lad in their early 20s if we were still living in the 80s/90s. Now every bedroom has TV.
Still waiting for my 512Gb version and I did order 8 minutes after they went live on the store to pre-order, a little bit peeved as I have seen EU customers (Not UK) already receive their top tier units after ordering beyond 30 minutes. My email will come one day soon. Good to hear you liked yours Jason.
