I don't understand why the panspermia argument is so convincing to people. Seems to me like basic probability is against it. Consider 2 scenarios:
1. Life evolves on a planet
2. Life evolves on a planet, then travels through space to another planet
1 is, by definition, more probable than 2, because 1 is a necessary precondition of 2. And yet people seem to believe that because 1 seems so improbable — it's so hard to imagine life developing from non-life — 2 somehow explains how 1 could happen.
But the panspermia hypothesis is full of so many wild improbabilities. It would have to involve some kind of simple lifeform that (A) is able to survive absolute zero temperature (B) and the radiation of space (C) for millions of years (D) after having survived whatever event blasted it into space (E) and just so happened to make it to earth, of all places in the universe (F) and survives the extreme heat of reentry through Earth's atmosphere. And if you suggest that panspermia was done intentionally by advanced aliens, then you have added EVEN MORE improbabilities to the theory to try to "fix" it.
But the real kicker is, in addition to all these improbabilities, panspermia also assumes that life developed from non-life on some other world — which is the thing we think is so implausible that we invented panspermia to explain it. But if we've accepted that somehow life could develop from non-life on that hypothetical other world, isn't it a million times more plausible to imagine that that happened on Earth too, instead of a theory that has all these complicated other steps?
It seems very plausible that life elsewhere in the universe is just as curious about us as many people seem to be about the House Wives of New Jersey. It’s fine to watch from a distance. Lots of laughs, fun to speculate…but no fucking way anyone is going to actually try to get involved/
Why are other countries pilots/media/astronomical interests not reporting like sightings!!
stop thinking lex. you aren't interviewing yourself
My god this is so much waffle in order to sound so intellectual
Lex is constrained to thinking like a human. Maybe the alien civilization has contacted 10,000 other civilizations over 100,000,000 years and has a pretty damn good method of making "first contact" so as to not "freak out" the local population.
Lmao demesticate dogs? Tabby cat comes and goes as he pleases i dont infridge on him he just dosnt have hands to open the door so i help him.
They are farmers. We are a intermediary stock like plow horses. They cultivate us to build the very expensive colony ships. The colony ships are computers capable of writing a mind into the brains of native life. When the natives are capable of building more colony ships, and launchers to colonize more planets that's the crop. They don't consider the species their minds occupy to be themselves. Their minds, and culture is who they consider themselves to be. As such the system allows them to endure beyond the life of a species, and even beyond the life of the stars they live under.
Having a durable system their further ambition is to satisfy their curiosity. Spreading the expense of the equipment of scientific study over several planets reduces the load on any individual planet to a self sustainable level.
Another ambition they have is to entertain, and be entertained. They value originality of thought, and creative art. Spreading the load of sustaining artists is also accomplished by the system.
Here's the problem with this expert's analysis, he associates alien behavior with human intentions and behaviors and makes the assumptions based off of exploration on what we can and will do in the future.
We have no idea what they are thinking. Bottom line. Or what they are or where they come from or why they are here, it's all speculation based on nothing.
I'm more interested in solid concrete evidence that they are here and they are real. Show me that instead
idk why we assume they are millions of years more advanced than us just because they got here. we could get to mars now. we got to the moon with 1960s technology.
i love to believe but they are beyond our understanding if they are real.
I hate the way this guy formulates his speech it’s like he’s talking in circles
The United States and presumably China and Russia know within a few minutes if there's a significant rocket launch anywhere on Earth and what type of rocket it most likely is. It's the first stage of any anti ballistic missile system. Nobody can leave Earth if the governments don't allow it.
Edge of visibility… they're doing what we would do: they send probes, not "manned" ships.
Within 10 million years…
This is irrelevant as time is relative
Adhd….😮
yea; his theoretical-alignment equivalent to my pov #welldone
I wonder if they are von Neumann probes who's only purpose is to explore and report back home, except they can't phone home because their civilization collapsed.
Lex is a little slow isn’t he
Lex playing dumb or is he?
Breath … taking. Difficult to come to terms with the fact that a discussion of this depth, import, that is open, acceptive with that much intellectual striking force could ever have happened. I'm no intellectual slouch but you gentlemen had me transfixed. Deeply considered thought with a serious, pressing need to understand something about which we can know so little? You had the answer. Pure abductive reasoning. It was a privilege. My thanks Lex.
We live in a 4K world. Yet all we ever see are grainy photos. Not once, have I heard from a physicist explain who, how, what or why. Not one. Just 'security personnel'…
Came in expecting him to try and debunk the UFO phenomena, happy to find he offers interesting possibilities of pan spermia, etc.
CAN WE JUST STOP WITH THE BS EXPLANATION OF CRAP AND GET TO THE MEAT.
I SEE THEM ALL THE TIME IN TEXAS.
His claim that a civilization could keep control over populations eventually totaling in the billions, over a period of millions of years, during which those specie(s) would have evolved, likely to the point where they would be unrecognizable to their ancestors, is absurd, and I'll throw in ludicrous.
With humans as a society, having a couple hundred thousand years to look back on, we can clearly see that a principle, such as not being grabby, would have evolved away, just as our morality, and ethics are now mostly unrecognizable to those of our ancestors.
To even suggest the stasis of a principle across billions of beings would be sustained, along with all of the externalities required to maintain, and enforce it, is beyond nonsensical. Does this guy even know about social, and biological evolution? That, in and of itself, is a case closed, but then we can add the need to leave their planet of origin so that they could survive because they've consumed all of their resources.
Idk who's the bigger nerd 😂
Colin Mochrie talking rubbish about UFOs. Who’s Lie is it Anyway?
Bro thinks we stand in at the top of the cat hierarchy. Hahaha, cats allow us in their presence lmao
bitcoin could be alien tech
He doesn’t seem to know much beyond speculation and personal opinion about UFOs
I met a guy who is 50/50 on the flying saucer thing, where I’m from all crazy guys seem to be coming out with the same stuff it’s getting proper spooky
I've seen more impressive drones than what they've put forward as evidence….
One of the most if not the most interesting point of view/conversations I have heard in years
What's amazing is that the author of the original story for "The Day the Earth Stood Still" explored these concepts discussed in this video over 75 years ago
This guy is to happy to explain his thoughts to Lex, he is actually writing a science-book and is testing he story line
Sometimes I feel like you just be saying words Lex.
Good thing they exist within the spectrum of our limited senses and instrumentation.
Guy talks a lot about nothing. Did you pick up on that??
Lex, the interviewer is out of his league is questions and interrupts Lex too much. More listening and less playing Devils advocate wield have made this shorter and better.
This guy gives neil degrasse Tyson a run for his money for stupidest smart person. If you dont believe me watch the entire podcast.
It’s rather pointless to listen to a conversation with hypotheticals heaped on hypotheticals, all beginning with the premise that we are visited by aliens. Something that is yet to be proven, or if proven, for the data to be released so we can start having a serious conversation. What I was listening to for the last 20 minutes is anything but serious and utterly unimportant.
Ty for not destroying us
I have always theorized they are "harvesting" something here on Earth. Strange thought: are they harvesting our emotions, particularly the negative ones? Is that why we REM sleep, which so far nobody can explain? Do they perhaps get hold of those emotions during our REM sleep? Is that what those UFO's are doing, collecting emotions and therefore energy? Another mystery: why do we die when we do not sleep at all? Is that why we have consciousness and intelligence over animals? Did they select and create the humane race for those purposes?
We is born from natural parents,
by our growt, cells come and go,
from within, Not by any device or ufos.
That Uap, appers, it might be a more logical
'name', because, ufos Dont fly, they move.
It is materialized electric compositions,
Not for travel of any kind.
There is NO extra Lex and Robin,
but there is multillions, of Living beings,
at the 'BodyOrganism-Level', and they also need
to be cells in a Planet-body.
All Living Beings, is Life-Units, Same Race, there is NO alien.
And No inter calactic hyper-drive space-thing.
Earth, is Not a Plant-planet, and likely not fertilized,
asteroid-idea way.
We is too developed in a perspective of earths age,
it is far to short, for the 'Fish-level to Present level'
.Developing-circuits for micro-beings, is different
than for Macro-beings, so even the cells with permanent status,
will be temporary, in a larger perspective.
Female Princip and Masculine Princip is basic in all Life-Units.
ParentsPrincip for Planets, differ from the close related princip,
Fascinating discussion.
Also very much like Bernardo Kastrup’s latest article on this topic. Many witnesses have seen UFO’s coming out of the ocean…
There’s an amazing channel out there called ‘Eyes On Cinema’ with incredible accounts of people experiencing UFO’s. It’s very very clear it’s not all under control of “the government”.
The one with the UFO flying along side a ship out at sea dipping in and out of water was just the sun set through a thermal camera. It's actually kinda obviously this. I'm sure there are explanations for everything else. That's the only one I have looked into
