What if it's other random neighborhood cats?
Ive been struggling to introduce my two cats. One is my childhood cat that my parents have kept until now but now they are moving and wont take her with them and the other is a stray ive had in my home for a year. My childhood cat used to live with two dogs and a cat but generally kept to the basement. My stray meows sadly outside the door because he wants to meet her. He does not hiss or growl, he eats comfortably in front of her. However my childhood cat just hears him and hisses at the door or growls. Ive been swapping them around the house and feeding them on other sides of the door but I dont know what to do next. Should i put up a screen door? Ive bought a bunch of cat stuff ive been trying to encourage my childhood cat and ive gotten her a cat tree, cat beds, another litterbox, shes confident enough to walk around the house without hiding but she seems to hate my cat and idky. They are both siper affectionate and foodies and i think they could have a great relationship but my childhood cat isnt giving it a chance. I dont know if its fear or territorial or both.
Idk my two cats were fighting all the time we seperateed them and now it's been a year but they are still fighting when they see each other 😢
Your frying pan analogy was ….an analogy 😂😂😂
That's all I am seeing about cat fights is a new cat being introduced. My situation is sisters we adopted at birth who are inside only. I'd love to see that vid!!
Hoping someone can help — we have an OG cat (Tabby), and then we adopted a cat (Nebelung) (both males, both neutered about 6 months, and same age).
We followed ALL the suggestions for introduction (please just trust we have, for the sake of simplicity — I know how hard that can be to trust — I do IT support for a living 🙂 But EVERY SINGLE TIME, without fail #2 attempts to seek and destroy the OG. We have been able to stop almost every attempt, but a couple have occurred. We then go through re-introduction again, and again, and again. It has now been over two years. You read that right — TWO YEARS. We tried again today…same thing, after a lot of playing, protection, etc…cat #2 has one objective. To attack cat #1. Cat #1 has shown trust over and over and over, only to get burnt, and he has a GOOD memory now. Cat #1 has NEVER attempted to seek and destroy. He's only ever defended (and BTW, he holds his own, in the rare case(s) #2 succeeds in reducing the distance to 0. I learned my lesson in about the second fight — cat #2, as explained, is locked in and not thinking about anything else at that point.
So — here we are. Reaching 2 1/2 years. Same story. #1 is a great cat. And #2 is also a wonderful, smart, cuddly cat, if he has no access to cat #2. Cat #2 is also scared of basically anything else on the planet. But if he sees #1, seek and destroy.
We have had endless patience, and will continue to. We had a neighbor and friend to adopt at one point, but the kids wouldn't allow it…..
We have a Ragdoll that we bought when a year and a half old. She got along with our older persian male and calico female. Then bought a Bengal male, neutered, and from the get go the Ragdoll has viciously attacked him. We have never slowly introduced any of our 20+ cats and had a problem. The Bengal is scared crazy of the Ragdoll. We gave the Ragdoll to an old Friend and she had her for a year, but gave her back to us recently. We put a screen door on one of our bedrooms to separate them. The Bengal came upstairs and the Ragdoll tried to plow through the screen door to attack the Bengal. Now, the Bengal stays downstairs under the diningroom table. We are at our wits ends with grief because it seems it's an impossible problem. Do you have any suggestions outside of getting rid of the Ragdoll once again. She needs a forever home and we want her to get along with each other. Thank you for any help you can afford to us!!
Now my first cat even attacks me
I have a question. I brought my 2 cats to my friend's apartment who has 1 cat. But we didn't introduce them gradually, and for a period, about 2 months, they were avoided each other . In the 3rd month, they seemed to accept each other, but they were still a little distant. In the 4th month and recently they are more and more aggressive. My cats have made a team and they are following my friend's cat. They didn't get hurt, they didn't fight, they just meow very loudly, out of fear. Is it possible that they are more aggressive these days because they feel the negative emotions in the house? So, the behavior of cats is also determined by the atmosphere given by human emotions? stress, anxiety, fear… Thanks
So we have 3 cats 2 are older and weve had for obviously a while i wanted to buy a cat of my own they are all females by the way and the 2 cats just allways gang up on my new cat and idk how to stop it one of the cats is worse for it allways coming out looking to start trouble
We have a new cat (he adopted us) that we have been trying to work into the family. We have four male cats (3 littemates and one older gentleman) who get along well and have been with us. Our new guy is 8 – 9 months old and has larger fang teeth than the others. We have had a couple of instances where he came face to face with one of the other cats (one escaped into the other's space). He got into a fight in both cases which did cause injury to human and cat (he bites really hard). We backed up and restarted the steps but are afraid to bring them together without a barrier. Currently we have a large 4 tier cage that he stays in whie the other cats are out (it's shielded on three sides). There is still tension when the group of cats is around him. Still hidding and sometimes swiping (from one of the littler mates) of the paws at him. How do we get over the hump?
We have a maine coon mix and a tuxedo, having fights even with reintroduction, what am I doing wrong @JacksonGalaxy?
but they are brother and sister.
What is reassuring is that because of your videos i make the differnece between my cats playing and fighting. I know when to intervene or not. I mostly intervene when one wants to continue and dosnt get the signal of the second cat who says "stop" other the that its relatively fine. Should propably play more with them since they go chasing each other in the middle of the night 😂
What do you do if you have 4 cats and just 2 don’t get along? How do you introduce?
Jackson save us, we got a new kitten. The 8 old cat just keeps hurting her. Went to the vet the kitten had been sick with infection.
Had my cat and his 4 daughters for years and one of the girls goes through a mood swing every once in a while and attacks the others she's singled out her father this time and he's scared poor guy they usually love one another and he's always the one to break up their sisterly squabbles 😓 idk what to do he was like this as a young cat so its understandable that his child is just like him but he grew out of his vicious behavior before we had the girls (accidental rescue mom litter😓) he’s fixed I don’t know what to do other than separate them and let her have a moment to reset and get back to a calm state I hope this video helps me
my two cats are littermates and have never been separated but since we got a third cat that neither of them like, they also have started fighting eachother almost everyday. it makes me sad cuz they’re siblings and they usually cuddle and clean eachother etc and now if they even come near eachother, they’ll start growling and fighting
Have done reintroduction 5 times both cats super nice by themselves but same room by themselves massive fight it’s be 18 months what do I do
My cats have been living together for 2 years and now are fighting. 2 of them are attacking some of my cat's
I need your help please
I need help!!!! Reintro is not working. I've done it 3 times now. And had both cats neutered. Help!
Reintroduction works!!!
We have had our cats for three years, they cuddle together, eat together, do everything together, now all of the sudden out of nowhere yesterday they've started fighting like crazy! Hard for me to understand stand it
When my last cat came to ny house… he hated me, hated all my cats, but he liked my house/ garden and th dry brocks .
And of course all my cats did disliked Sparta! And yes me too!
Still I saw something in him.
After about 2 months I saw that he (Sparta) did not go away and decided to protect this cat. And since I protected this cat… he knew what I was doing, when I was just stepping between them!
I did not choose any side… I did not to get any cat get hurt (or lose the eyes in a fight)
I have three cats one is an outdoor cat and the other two are inside cats theyve gotten a slow introduction and it went well but now that our kitten turned into teenage age he keeps on fighting the other cats and i dont know what to do because he causes serious harm and we wouldnt reintruduce because that will probably not work with the damage he had done
My cats fight all the time I believe (territorial fights) and only just recently got them snipped, I’ve moved address and tomorrow they are due to join us, can this technique work to rebuild a relationship?
This exact thing happened with my cats. One was stalking a rabbit and chipmunk and the other walked into the area. The cat who was hunting suddenly turned on the other cat and attacked. Now, they are avoiding each other, hissing, etc.
Thank you so much my cat we’ve had the longest (midnight) just got cornered and attacked by one of our new cats(ginger)
My cat won't even walk in the room unless he just is attacking his sister. My home is not my own anymore.
I'm stuck because my resident cat has no jackpots. She doesn't eat treats, she doesn't play, and she's not very affectionate to want "love". I'm really stuck on my introduction. It's been 6 months and they can only be together if i'm petting one of them
This video is old. Three years old, but I have a new question pertaining to cat fights. I have 2 indoor cats (who are both sweet all get out), but I feed about 30 outside strays. Some of them are like partially feral and sweet, but they are still strays. I have one neutered cat who is the Alfa Male (I also Have an alfa female, but she's cool), I call him Lurch cause the is tall and clumsy looking, but he isn't clumsy at all. Just looks it. Anyway,, Lurch thinks he is the King. He protects his territory ruthlessly, which includes me. He bullies all the cats, but seems to hate a handful of kitties. I put that food out for ALL cats, not just Lurch, even though he thinks it's all his, lol His victims are all male. One rather large grey Persian cat (named Stinky) he has gone to blows with a few times, ain't afraid of him. In fact, he talks back to Lurch all the time while Lurch complains he is on his turf, all the while Stinky is eating, (He's like "too bad, so sad, bro). But, I just don't like when he bullies other cats who are just not fighters by nature. How can I calm Lurch down. He's already neutered (catch and release program). He's still aggressive. Stinky is a fully intact male, and Lurch can keep up with him. Is there anything I can do to help this situation?
Hi Jackson.. I have maine coon cat two male and one pregnant female but the two boy were fighting how to stop them fight..?
I took in another cat and within 24 hours it almost turned into a cat massacre I had no choice but to separate the both them overnight Using the spray bottle was the only way I could stop the both hissing at each other and then when the deep growl started I had no choice that one cat had to go I just can't live with the constant aggravation of every 5 mins of the day I would have to break it up As much as I wanted to give the 2nd one a home it didn't work out so I sent the cat back to the owner Hopefully she will find good home for her They say female cats don't fight NOT TRUE as these where both female
Thank you
I NEED HELP!!!!! So I had 2 cats already. An older cat and a 4 year old. We got a male ragdoll for a companion to the 4 year old because he seemed board. We slowly introduced them over almost 2 weeks. After seeing that everyone was ok and everything was great for about a week we just let everyone socialize freely. The new cat was just learning about trusting that there will always be a meal and boundaries. He stole/ ate my 4yo cats treats from right in front of him. He looked confused at first but set his eyes on the new cat and went for blood so we had to separate them. We have 3 floors and the 3rd floor is 400sqare ft. Plenty of space to roam but that shouldbe temporary. Now my 4yo is angrier, resentful and attacks everyone. He attacks my elderly cat often and has even bitten and scratched my face up pretty good. I was just cutting his nails and he turned around and attacked me. He's still pretty testy even though I try to give him extra reassurance and affection and I no longer trust him around the grand babies. I even purchased your solutions for calming/ defusing.
I have 2 males and 1 female, female is fixed and working on getting the males done. Specifically my oldest male is beating up the younger one, out if nowhere. Gonna try the reintroduction and pray it works. These guys are my best friends and i hate the stress its brought on
My older cat tries so hard to be friends with my new kitten and this little 1 is just not having it, Supposed to be the other way around. Help?
Ok so I have a question then I have a 4 year old male cat and a 1 in a half year old female cat they have a litter together an my male cat got outside 3 months later I was able to catch him finally I brought him back home I have the female roaming an the kittens roaming cause I thought everything was gonna be normal he wanst gonna bother them an the 2 adults acknowledge each other maybe love on one another an then go about there day well right before I was letting him out well as I was letting him put I had the cage open by 1 inch then all the sudden the female straight up attacked me searched me all to hell I got her off me an she wasn't budging at all she was trying to kill me or atleast tear me up really really good after I got the cat off me I got her out the room an u finally let my male cat out to roam I have them separated an I just cleaned the litter box out do my male cat could use it an both cats have food too everything like you said so I'm thinking about letting her smell his scent but rn the female isn't taking a liking to me at all she coming up am rubbing againsted me an then hating me really bad the next an dilliberatly trying to come up behind me to attack me I opened up my back door just to see if she would go out like my male cat did in hopes that would fix her harmone problem an she never went at all she's determined to get my cat out the best she can so I shut the door an now ik just sitting her trying to figure a way to fix this now that my male cat is back home after 3 months of him missing an be bullied by other male cats in the neighborhood which I found out there was about 10 others so ik he's been thru a battle but this my male cat is different like acting different he definitely has more balls then before cause before he use to not give a shit what animal or God was tugging or pulling on his tail an smacking him an sniffing his butt well my male dog that 7 years old they both grew up together as youngins my dog was sniffing his butt an he just turned around an went full on wild mode for a split sec let out a nasty hiss I never heard him do an actually sounded deeper then an other hiss I've herd him do but doesn't have a problem being around him so ik he's act normal but with some extra traits that I think he just picked up along the way of being outside for 3 months
i’m here because my roommates cats and mine never liked each other since becoming roomies 2 years ago but my roomies cat is not a friendly cat i wouldn’t say aggressive but swings and hisses. Recently I came home and my cat had blood around her eyes and now we have another kitty who is rough when she plays but gets along great with my cat. I want it be harmonious in the house🥲 send help!
massive waste of time on this video bud
Hi Jackson, I would love your opinion on my current cat introduction situation:
10 month old female named Chai and 8 month old male named Bambi.
Chai is my cat since August, and I decided she could benefit from a friend so 6 days ago we got Bambi. Immediately we put Bambi in the bathroom and kept him separate most of the time. Since then they've smelled each other, done scent swaps, room swaps, and have had visual moments through a cracked door or baby gate etc. As well, we have 2 pheromone diffusers. Each listed event has led to either or both cats hissing, growling or a swat or two. Also their food bowls are near the door to the bathroom.
That's the backstory, and I fully expect some adversity for the new cats and new situation but I would love clarity on one thing. When should I allow them the chance to "work it out" with no barriers? I'm terrified of the physical or emotional trauma which could result, so I want to remain patient but, Bambi really wants out of the bathroom and I want him out too!
Please help!
An unknown female cat came in my house for last few days with her two kittens. I gave them food everyday so she started to live in my house. But my male cat can't come inside home because the female fights with him. I don't know how to manage them. My male cat is missing for 1 day. It can't come home due to fear. What should I do?
sigh I'm literally in tears right now . Have 3 cats, two of which are litter mates who seem to just hate each other.
Like Jackson said, they grew up together and used to be so loving but now anytime they are around each other it's almost immediately hissing and running and chasing and some really scary fights. Today's really took me out.
I usually just keep them separated but I'm gonna try to reintroduce them because this really is overwhelming. Not to mention, i hate keeping the girl seperate – i feel like its not fair to her quality of life but also I don't want either of them getting hurt.
My 2 cats have lived together harmoniously for 2 years then got physical one night. I separated them. That's what brought me to this video. So now, the reintroduction.
My resident cat and new kitty tolerated each other for three months and I don’t know why this week out of no where the resident cat is attacking the baby kitty!!! They can’t even be in the same room anymore it’s making me so stressed. Going to try to reintroduce:-(
My new kitten (4 month male) keeps attacking my resident cat (7 year old female) and it’s driving me to tears 😭
How do you just lock your cat away ??????????
