My uncle had an amazing Main Coon named Mister. My uncle got really sick a few times when he had Mister and that cat posted himself on the side of his bed leaving only to use the litter box and eat the entire time. Mister passed away and my uncle was understandably upset. One day when he was missing his buddy particularly badly, he heard a noise on his porch. Opening the front door to investigate, a little black kitten barged passed him, walking in his house, looked around then meowed like, 'sup, when's dinner?'

But what if the person is not really ready to care for his new "present"? Having pets ist not just the moment when you first take them in your arms, it also means spending a lot of time and money! And this sometimes for more than 20 years. – It will be neglected or ends up in a shelter!
Don't treat pets like things! So don't just buy one and put them in a present box! Go to a shelter instead and get to know each other, so the pet too has a chance to find out of it wants to be your friend at all!
Everything else ist far too often irresponsible and not seldomly ruins while lifes. If you doubt it, ask at your shelter, they will have a lot of storys to tell you about it!
