Xiaomi Pad 7 in for review

Today we have with us the Xiaomi Pad 7. Launched in China back in October of last year, the Pad 7 is finally getting a wider release, starting with India.

The model we have here is the Indian unit and it’s identical to the one launched in China. Starting with the design, you are getting an all-aluminum shell with no visible antenna lines. The device is only 6.18mm thick and weighs 500g.

On the front is the 3:2 aspect ratio 11.2-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 3200×2136. The display has a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz and a claimed peak brightness of 800 nits. The device also supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision.

An optional feature of the Pad 7 is a nano-texture display, which adds a matte layer on top that reduces display reflectivity up to a claimed 65% and provides a paper-like texture. Of course, as you can tell from the pictures, our review unit does not feature this coating and it’s only available on select configurations.

The Pad 7 in India is running on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip as the Chinese model with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. Other features include 13MP rear camera and 8MP ultra-wide front camera, quad-speaker system with Dolby Atmos, IR blaster, and Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 2. Finally, there’s an 8850mAh battery with 45W Turbo Charging.

In terms of accessories, Xiaomi is also releasing a keyboard called the Focus Keyboard, which includes a trackpad and adaptive backlit keys. The keyboard attaches magnetically to the Pad 7 and communicates via pogo pins on the back of the device. The company is also launching the Focus Pen stylus, which has 0g activation force, 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity, and ultra low latency.

The Xiaomi Pad 7 will be available in three colors, Graphite Grey, Sage Green, and Mirage Purple.
