My new kitten purrs non stop. She sucklers my neck and then I know she is hungry 😋
I've always wondered about the individual volumes when it comes to different cats and purring. Of my current three, one is like a jet engine and you can even hear him from across the room, the second is so silent a finger under her chin is the only way to know she's even capable of purring, while the third falls somewhere in the middle of the other two.
My kitty ,Tessa a rescue and 21 yrs old ,starts purring when she sees me with the massager,She knows its time for her arthritic hips to get a massage.
My cat has a few different levels of purr. When she is cozy, it's a low purr, when she is eating she purrs louder, when she is really happy she purrs and trills. She also snorts like a bull when she is not happy. It's so cute.
When my brother Marc was dying of cancer, Ms. Roger Kitty would sleep no further than two inches away from him on the bed, purring constantly. She would stand up and stare at anybody entering the room, as if she was asking for a password. She and Marc were extremely protective of each other.
My cat Chaton (say SHAW toe, means kitten in French) doesn't seem to purr much, if at all. He was an abandoned kitten whom I rescued when he was barely old enough to eat solid food. According to your video, this may have something to do with not purring, as with me looking after him, he leads a stress free life.
He does do something which may be a substitute for purring when I hold him. He'll extend his left foreleg and place it on my chest. You might say that he's a southpaw. From what I've read, this is a behaviour that dogs do to express affection for their owners, but be that as it may, I love it when he does this.

Mine don’t purr to ask for food, but they meow and follow me around staring at me.
Purring is the best. Even when cats are being friendly they’re not as openly excited about humans as many dogs are, but the purr gives it away.

I make all my cats purr, even some of the feral cats I feed.
My feral didn't purr in the beginning. As I was taming him he had a low, quiet purr. As he got to know the family and hear their happy purrs he is definitely louder now. When one of my babies curls up next to me and purrs I know I find it soothing, puts me right out! Thanks for the info. Love your channel 😻
